GV-1 and 14mz not working properly
first flight today on my raptor 50 with the new 14mz. i calibrated the governor and it seemed to be working well, showing the proper rpm changes on the screen as i switched from normal to idle 1 to idle 2, but in flight it was horrible. it was overspeeding tremendously and then basically cutting out to the point of motor turn off on quick transitions. no idea whats going on with it since switching to the 14mz. it worked perfectly with my 9c. any ideas?

Can you see it turning on at the GV-1?

Do you have all three wires plugged in at the RX?

yup it was running perfectly on my 9c, but for some reason it isnt working right on the 14. it shows that it is turning on when i move the throttle stick up or put it in idle up, just as it should, but its just not managing the throttle properly in flight. Should i reset the limit endpoints in the gv-1 first, then calibrate it using the governer screen in the 14? i may have done the endpoint set again as a final check after calibrating which now that i think about it could screw with it. i'll try resetting the endpoints, then calibrating and we'll see what happens today.Art Hughes

OK.

With the GV-1 connected as follows.

THRO - Channel 1
AUX rpm - Channel 7
AUX on/off - Channel 8

SWPT is controlled by switch "B" (mine had to be reversed and I threw in some subtrim to get the center of the switch to be "ON".

STSW is the throttle control ON. Throttle hold should turn this OFF.

SWCD is the true status. Both have to be ON for this to be ON. Either OFF will turn the unit OFF.

I have the TX to control speed on switch "E" which is the flight mode switch.

I am using all three rates and all of them are set to Sngl.

All these posts are great. I also suggest you go to Erik Larson's web site and read his article on calibrating the GV-1 on the 14 MZ.

In addition make sure when you set your end points that you run the test that will verify they were accepted.

Have you tried moving the two AUX channels to 10 and 11? Some governors won't work properly on 7 and 8 when using the G3 receiver.Vibe 90, Vibe 50, Vigor CS x2,

actually i was able to fix it today at the field. i had calibrated the endpoints using jason krause's tip about setting the idle endpoint at 25% throttle. that must only work well on the 90's bc it wouldnt allow the throttle to drop enough on high speed decents. once i reset that it worked like a dream all day. thanks a lot for the ideas anyway guys.Art Hughes
