Don't let this turn you away from flying. You can buy/install devices on your heli designed to help you find a lost heli.QUICK! ,,,can someone turn the gravity off for just a second,,,,

designed to help you find a lost heli
Good idea, soon as I can get off RR I am going to web search for something. Many years ago I lost a plank not far away but in dense woods and never did find it. Unfortunatly, 'the horse is out of the barn' for this fellow.
I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Don't limit your area to 500'. I helped find a plane that went down in a swamp. After searching on foot a few evenings I had a friend take me up in his cub. It was more than twice as far out as anyone previously thought.

I have some reflective vinyl on my stuff. If you can't find it during the day it will jump out and grab you at night. Thankfully I haven't had to find anything of mine 'yet'.

Odds are all of the electronics will still be good. Rain and fresh water are not very damaging to electronics for the most part. So go find your heli. BTW, look up too, it could be stuck in the top of a tree as well. They don't weight much so becoming tangled and hung would be very feasible. Good luck in your continued search.
It's been about 2 months since the crash, and I still haven't found it. My last ditch plan has been to wait until late fall when all the thick vegetation has died and hopefully the heli will be much more visible. So I've got another month or so to go. Do you guys still think the electronics might be salvagable? Assuming its laying down in some weeds, exposed to rainwater for 3 months. Will I be looking at horrible corrosion? What would happen to a Lipo thats been exposed to moisture for that long?

My approach to this predicament is as follows: Do overtime at work (presumed you can) instead of searching for your heli. It'll probably get you a brand new one by the time you'd actually find it. That's how I do it when I crash to hard to even want to touch the remains. Therapy.Chase dreams - not money.

Hi,
email mel@mlsuarez.com. He does airrobotics for just such a problem as yours, a search mission. I think he charges $75 per hour.

Still haven't found it, might go out looking today. Thought I'd post a picture from a few days before the crash.

Yellow canopy and white blades should be pretty visible.

I lost a r30 in some thick woods for some time, in most cases a heli in woods will never make it to the ground.

I'm sorry but after 2 months only the plastic parts will have survived

Actually, it's been right at 4 months. I'm assuming the electronics are gone, but wouldn't the aluminum parts be ok?

Don't give up. A kid brought a concept 30 into the shop that must have been in the woods for 10 years. That person gave up too easy.Lungs transformed to take in water.

Well, I have pretty much given up. During my last expedition I was so disgusted and frustrated by the whole situation. It's sad, but I think I am just going to move on. It seems very hopeless.

My new 450S should arrive just in time for Christmas!

i've been following this thread and it is truly heartbreaking. You can't giveup, there are more people involved here now.Anyhoo,We went dirt bike riding on saturday and we had the planes out.My brothers plane got caught in the wind and was carried quite a ways away.It was much further away than we thought, but we found it.my point is that maybe if you go way past the point where you thought it landed, then work your way in,instead of working your way out.It worked for us and it might work for you.It IS worth a try.Even if the aluminum parts are corroded, just clean them up.Don't give up,it has to be somewhere.

Always find when they go down best way to look,is add 300metre on to spot of imagined impact and search inwards from there.

look don't give up now that the cold weather is here the woods should be easyer to see through remember to use a compass and some
colored ribbon or something to mark your trail with that yellow body
should still be a help to see and look up and go more than 500 feet.
try up to 1000feet if you have good eye sight that far away is posable.....never ..ever ... give up............its still there.
good luck good hunting.....
