Anyone tried out Rcscrewz kit for the evo 50?
Hi all

I'm in process of rebuilding my evo after a close encounter with terra firma and I got my hands on a rcscrewz kit for the evo 50. As all screws come with cap heads and high grade (DIN912) stainless steel I'm pretty inclined in replacing all my standart screws with them.

Only catch is that I don't seem to have any self tapping screws in the kit and as far as I can remember there are some self tapping screws in the evo kit. So... should I keep those self tapping screws or replace them with those rcscrews anyway? Will it hold together?

Thx for your input

Tony

I redid mine with a kit from Custom-RC after a close encounter with the ground. I kept the self tapping screws for a couple of areas that the cap heads wouldn't work with (servo tray mount, mechanical mount and bearing blocks for the tail drive) other than that I replaced everything.Ralph W.

The little battery/receiver holder that mounts under the servo tray. Hirobo calls it the mechanical mount...I have no idea why .Ralph W.

I don't use any selftappers in my EVO. You can use the correct length SHCS's and they work fine. No self tappers needed.

TM,

Thanks, I wondered about doing that as well. I have enough extras for most sizes that I may go back and try it...!! I HATE phillips head screws with a passion but I wasn't sure what to do with those few areas.

Oh my God Tmoore this is going worse by the day:

No loctite, wireball style electric instalations and now no self tapping screws

Only kidding man! I do like the idea of not using philips screws. I may give it a shot but I suppose it will only work on holes that haven't been tapped already during the previous install as we are talking on a rebuild here and eventough I broke 3 frames the servo frame is still ok (I think).
