Stiff Tail Control Arm
This is my first TRex build. I'm currently flying Raptor50s. I've built/rebuilt the raptor many times (thanks to crashs) and I'm familiar with the smoothness.

The tail control fork (that controls the pitch of the tail rotor blades) is very stiff.....it doesn't like to move in and out.

Any ideas?

Joe

My stock tail only lasted me 6 flights , but check that the links on the tail are smothe & the tiny screws that hold the links to the slider are backed off a tad from being snug!and one more thing "DON'T BE AFRAID!"

The ball links attached to this part and going to the blade grips must be loosened by about one half turn.

This would be the best time to dump the stock parts and upgrade to the metal tail slider and metal tail grips. One of the FEW upgrades that makes a difference.

Joe,
Are you talking about where the tail pitch change slider slides back & forth on the shaft?
If so, lube with light weight oil; tri-flow or your favorite lubricant. After a few flights it'll wear in & slide easier.

The MicroHeli Pro Tail does work well. It has NO binding, and is extremely accurate and repeatable. Have this tail on 2 Trexes, and the tail locks on both of them with a CHEAP Align gyro.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help. I'll check it out.

aircar84, yup....that's what I'm talking about. I put a little 3-in-1 on there and it didn't seem to help much.

I'll back the ball links back off the blade grips and see if that helps.

Sounds like one of my first upgrades. When I was putting it together, I was thinking, man this is pretty poor construction.

Thanks for the help...

NO! Don't back the ball links off the tail grips!!! I meant - loosen the screw holding the ball link (plastic part) half a turn.

Thanks for all the help but I figured out what my problem is. One of the tail rotor blade grips is bad. The metal sleeve must be bent. (Maybe egg shaped or something.) Because when I put the blade grip on the housing, it will hardly move. Meaning I haven't even put the screw in that holds it there. The other grip moves freely.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
