YS61 - Run out measurements?
I have a YS61ST2 I'm going to install in my Freya. I've been trying to figure out which of my two types of clutch hubs to use, the stock silver aluminum Freya version or the blue anodized EX version.

As per the Freya manual, it shows that for the stock Freya hub a collet is provided but it specifies for a OS60. The YS61 is referred to for the special stepped washer under the prop nut, which I do have. So, while dial indicating this stick hub it starts out at around .0025", as I tighten it down it gets worse, .005"+. I do employ a small soft headed hammer to lightly tap the hub to recenter it after each consecuitive tightening of the prop nut & I also did apply a small smear of grease to the collet... no luck =\

With the EX hub, which just slides on the crank over the woodruff key, with that tightend up I have got it to .003" without much of any fuss.

I was hoping to get .002" or less, but I'm not sure where the problem lies here.. with the parts or with me =\

I dialed the crank itself and it's .0005"

I've been following DavidH's instructions from the "other heli" site.

Any other tips are appreciated!

As one member here suggested to me, try to use some thin foil under the fan hub. I had the same problem with the keyed flywheel on evo 50 and it helped, but later I bought a normal flywheel, because I find it more accurate.

I installed the EX hub on my YS61 and have measured run out at the edge of the outside diameter of the mounting pad for the clutch and am getting .003", when I measure run out on the thicker portion of the hub just under the mounting pad I'm getting .001".

Between these two readings, is this acceptable so far?

Now, when I add on the clutch and measure run out on the start shaft, I get .005" of run out at best even after rotating it 180* on the hub.

I haven't used any aluminum foil shims yet nor have I haven't tried the stock collet style hub.
