90 lock out & down for the count
Alright guys. This has probably been brought out before but I could not find it.

Problem is that my 90SE has been locking up on every flight. That's a total of 3 flights so far. I got away with just a broken carbon skids on the last flight. Lucky was only that.

My other friend was not so lucky. His SE just went down for the count on it's first flight.

At first I thought it was only my SE untill my friend's SE went down also.

Do any of you guys have this same kind of problem and how do I find out what could be causing it to lock up?

Electronic are all Futaba 9252 servo, 611 gyro, & R5014 reciever and finally OS 91SZ. Don't know if this onfo will help.

Any one might know what is causing the problem.
Heads up, it's my turn to crash & burn , NOT EVEN

There are a lot of threads out there, actually, with a lot of helpful hints. Here's one recent one:

Rf interference is an issue to deal with on any helicopter---and the 90 doesn't have a unique hold on this problem. Anyway, that will get you going.

Sorry to that, a few weeks ago I had a similar problem with my 90 with one other guy on the field. Still baffles me, and cost me a set of blades. Don't know if the battery was slightly weak, but it pitched back. All servos showed no problems.Fly It Like You're On The Simulator!

Thanks every one for your help.

I checked all the trends that others had put in and I did every thing that the others did.

The only next thing for me to do is to bolt down the 90 to a test stand and see what will happen next. My be I might find some thing while doing this.

In reply to hummingbirds comment. I had the same problem. We would get it light on the skids and the elevator would just lock back. Happened a couple times after changing out different components. After it finally crashed we rebuilt it and I changed my regulator. I had installed a new duralite regulator and mounted it on the back side of the throttle servo as seen in some peoples galleries. Well I got rid of the duralite regulator and put my fromeco arizona back on and havnt had a problems since. From what I hear the duralite regulators are very noisy. Not saying this is your problem but this was mine.

I wouldn't do that, the heli would most probably destroy itself due to ground resonance

fail safe
Setup a throttle fail safe so the motor goes to idle when a lockout happens, this will let you know there is a problem, yes I would move the reg to a different spot and see what happens

I was about to tell you to PM Dino, he have lots of experience in the 90s SE.

Updated, of my problem in that last post.

My firs crash was because I put the antenna in an inappropriate area, all way near the CF frames.
The perfect place is where it belongs in the landing gear.

The second crash was a defective receiver from Futaba, the receiver mal function in their bench.

I saw this pics in a gallery (LoCoTech) gallery of a strapped down Raptor 90Se with head loaders looking for glitches.

Strapping a heli down is just plain dumb and stupid. Head Loaders should not be used at a high RPM or on a strapped down heli.JB "Do a SEARCH" Turner

with the test stand. I have the ability to let it hover off the stand about 3 inches off the stand or lock it down for engine brake in. So if it's hovering that much. It shouldn't have that much of a head load as long as I don't give it any more trottle / pitch.

I'll try take some pictures later on once I get the bird back together and on the test stand.
