Master of Champions
Did anyone happen to catch tonight? One of the entrants was a couple of groups of guys flying airplanes. Foamies to be precise. Supposedly these were "Some of the best pilots". I am sure the venue had something to do with it, but the whole thing was kinda lame. I would say it was on par with what one would see at the average flying field on Sunday. Maybe we could get the Szabo boys against Youngblood on the show? A couple of T-Rexes could really show them what good flying looks like

Joe McBride is one of the best pilots in the world. But I agree, the flying was alittle lame. His website is The Flying Circus I think.

I am sure the average viewer has never seen anything like it. We got a group of guys that fly like that every Sunday. Yes we do follow AMA rules while flying.

Ever since I first saw an episode of Master Of Champions (Trials Riding)
I kept thinking this would be an awesome place for some top notch electric 3D (helis) with guys like szabo bros etc.

So I was quite impressed that they actually brought in "Model Aviators" as they called them.

I enjoyed watching the younger team perform, especially when they were crawling up the 1/4 pipe and flying off, kinda like a vertical runway!

All in all, it can only increase exposure to this hobby.

Now thats some low flying. Would be nice to know for sure he recovered, otherwise it doesnt count

TFC did certainly appear to be a lot more skilled. The thing that irritates me about many of the 3D flyers at the local field is that they fly out of control all the time, which people, including themselves, equate to them being good pilots. In reality they really are out of control I am always amazed how many of them can hover a plane, but can do a good slow roll or crash when dead stick.

Next week's episode should have the helicopters, and that's the last episode as the show is being cancelled. At least that's what I've heard. I just checked ABC's website and it say's to check back later for more info. Wow, I hope they do show the mini-heli session next week. I noticed they didn't have a next week preview as usually done.

Anyway, the show is pretty cheezy, but I know the three guys flying for Team Empire and it was nice to see them get to perform on TV. BTW, they all fly large 30%+ gassers too, every bit as well as the McBride team. I felt their performance on the show was clearly better than McBride's team. Their dead-still formation hovering is much more difficult than the readom stick bashing shown by the McBride team. However, I'm surprised the audience chose Team Empire as the winner as they wouldn't know about the difficult level of the manuvers.

Stay tuned and let's hope they do show the helicopter segment. http://abc.go.com/primetime/mastero...ions/index.html
