Bad glitches render raptor unflyable
hi everyone, im in need of some experienced troubleshooters. recently i did some checking and cleaning of parts on my raptor 50 V2 with hitec reciever and TT .50 engine. after having the rotor head dis and re-assembled i decided id try unpluging the throttle jockey an fly with just the curves hoping to tune them up a bit. out in my yard was where i was to conduct a few tests. after the engine was started i started spooling up and noticed the swash jumping as if i were being glitched, then the throttle would jump a little. i elected to tune the high needle in thinking that could be the problem. once again spooling and everything went okay so i got into a 4 foot hover. shortly after the glitching returned and the heli lunged toward the ground about 2 feet, i got freaked and hit throttle hold, landed and shut down and called it quits chalking it up to some local interference from the powerlines and what not in the neighborhood. later i went to the flying field and started the engine, but this time with the canopy off, so i could see the servos well. as soon as it fired up all the servos started moving and shaking. in my mind its definatly a engine problem. i tried different tuning, idle ammounts, its all no use. i personally think it cold be a bearing shot. i took some fotage of a test to help explain my query. its not very god because when i started up the throttle servo glitched a fair ammount causing the heli to torque and me to pull the fuel line. first shots are of my radio layout and examples of the servos working properly, next shot is where the heli is started and the glitching. that said, heres the clip.

Derek, you might consider backtracking and taking apart anything you touched just to verify that you did not do anything wrong or something went wrong in the process.

i honestly dont think that could be the case. tomorrow i will do more experiments, one of which will be removing the parts i touched, and the ball links from the servos including throttle, that way when i start it up for another video clip it wont torque, and you will better see the servos glitching. if that happens im going to pull the engine and check it.Derek O'B

You might want to re-think that course of action... starting the engine with the throttle linkage removed can be a dangerous thing... there will be nothing to prevent the carburetor from vibrating to full throttle once the engine starts.

From the video you posted.. that glitch could be induced by the glow driver .. soon as you have disconnected the glow driver , the glitch stopped..Naomi

did a few tests today. heli range checks fine. my engine test lead me to think its a clutch or internal engine problem. starter shaft is fine. thr glitching shows up like clockwork as soon as the throttle is raised a small ammount up from idle. heres todays clip, i have all links off the servos except the throttle, which is still connected but unplugged from reciever so i can control it with my fingers.

I would verify head bolts and muffler bolts are tight.

Also, check governor sensor and all wiring for a vibration at the RPM it glitches.

Last, you might want to swap crystals out.

Unbundle those wires and move the Governor pickup away from all the other wires. Better yet, remove the sensor from the airframe for the next test. Tell us what happens then...

Vibration aggravating a short in the RX maybe? I guess this is PPM you are using. If you have another RX and xtal that would be the next thing i tried.
