Who flys a STINGER Gohbee and what do you think????
I just purchased one on Runryder and was wondering what you guys thought. I can see some pros and cons comparing it to my Raptor.

NON-STINGER FLYERS, PLEASE DON'T RESPOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU!

I have had a Stinger 50 for this entire flying season. Like it really well. I also have a Tiger 50 and a Raptor 30. The Stinger is more stable in forward flight then the Raptor and more response in aerobatics then the Tiger. Nice that a lot of the Raptor parts are interchangeable. I fly the Stinger more than the other two combined.

Thanks for your opinion...however I don't.

There's no need to yell at others in the main discussion thread when looking for answers...there certainly could have been a nicer way of putting things to RR members...I know he was off base !!

You may note the thread is now posted where it should not be bothered... except by me...and for that I apologize.

First of all , sorry Jodini , I don't own a Stinger and haven't even seen one ! However , I would like to hear opinions from people who own and fly both the Stinger and Raptor (I'm looking for a cheap 30 size hack , just so that I can make use of an Irvine 36F1 Heli engine that I recently aquired !) . At the end of the day , it gets dark .

No problem nivlek...I just didn't want a bunch of guys with "I've heard this 'opinions'!" I want actual experience.

So anyone else fly'em and have you had good experiences or bad?

Before I got my first Stinger I was strictly a raptor man.
Other than the obvious cost difference there are many differences Between the Stinger and the Raptor, even with the parts that are interchangeable.
For instance the frames are interchangeable yet the Stinger frames have thicker reinforcements in critical areas and are stiffer than a raptor frame even when the raptor has the carbon frame stiffener installed.

As was mentioned above the Stinger is very solid in FFF yet has a roll and flip rate that will keep up with any heli out there.

There are always the post that will tell you not to count my opinion Because I am a "paid field rep" for Gohbee.
First off there is no such thing as a paid field rep for Gohbee, I get to melt my Visa card right along with the rest of you.
After flying my stinger for 6 months and noticing that my Raptors were accumulating a lot of dust I applied to Gohbee to become a rep. It took another 4 months of effort on MY part to actually become a field rep for Gohbee.

Stinger and Raptor Piolet
I should start by letting you know I am a Gohbee Field Rep. #0113TD
I have been flying Raptors, Horobo Shuttles Zxx, Kalt Baron, Kyosho Concept, all the way to X-cell And many more for years and have spent lots of money upgrading Them to fly Better. For the past 3 or 4 years I liked Raptors the best . Raptor parts are every were and cheep and I have learned to push my self more because if I crash it's fairly cheep to fix. I tryed a Gohbee because it has alot of the same parts as my Raptor and includs metal upgrades standard and some of the parts are stronger and cheeper to replace.
My opinion is the Stinger Stock will fly smoother and still be 3D capible right out of the box. Im not going to say that the Raptor sucks or Tiger 50 Sucks.
They are Good flying ships to. But If you are going to Buy just one heli I think the Stinger is the best value and Replacement parts are cheeper.

A good heli pilot in are club was flying his X-cell 60 and was not progressing at 3D very fast because he was scared to crash his $2000.00
Heli.
I recomended he get a Stinger just to rip around and get him comfortable with inverted moves. He has bilt his confidence and can rip with his X-cell But He still flys the Stinger the most.

Have fun
Mike

First thing, thanks for the opinions.....I hope they keep coming!
Second, I bought an older version of the Stinger 30 that had the older clutch configuration. No luck, so I had to upgrade the clutch...more raptor like. I'm not too upset about that....even the Raptor V1 had there issues on the clutch....lots of wah, wahs!

But the thicker plastic I don't get. I crashed my Stinger yesterday, because I thought it was ready for a loop and the engine died on the upside. No big deal....it came out of the sky like a dead duck and bam! I've crashed my raptor 30 many times and the frame has stayed together without the carbon fiber plate. But the stinger broke where it attached to the landing gear pretty bad. I also recieved a PM from someone else and they said they noticed that the frame was very brittle too. A frame can be stiffer like the stinger, but if it doesn't stay together after a crash...who cares what's "stiffer or thicker". But every accident and situation is different....maybe I hit the landing gear just right.

Other than that, it seems like the responds of the stinger is awesome and better than my Raptor 50 with many upgrades. For the money, it's nice to have so many upgrade parts. I'm hoping to get it back into the air and get my engine running right.

Thanks again for everyones feedbacks...it's even good to hear from a Rep or two!

BTW, the support from the reps (FLYINFOOL and David from Gohbee) has been great! Jeff has e-mailed me many times with help and David which is incharge of Gohbee here in the US called me directly to help me with any issues....now THAT'S customer service!

Oh Man, I hate to hear about a crash.

A crash proof heli would never get off the ground.
Stiffer frame does add to positive flight characteristics that is why Raptor came out with the carbon frame stiffener.

As you said every crash is different.
In 3 crashes with my Stinger 50 I have yet to damage the frame.
Every Raptor 50 crash that I have had, had frame damage.
Even the blades that you use will have an impact on the amount of crash damage. For instance some of the newer blades coming out have a steel wire attaching the weights to the blade bolt, this goes a long way toward preventing the blades from becoming bullets but also does not allow the heli to get rid of the high energy mass and thus will cause more damage to the heli with a big improvement in safety.

I did make the offer to Gohbee to do some serious crash testing if they would send me a truckload of parts.

My quick take on gohbee vs raptor handling. you cant go wrong with either. I did put a stinger head setup on my V1 (makes it a V2 spindle with the new head) and here is my opinion. the stinger head is less complicated, slimmer with the lower slung flybar, is as fast or faster in roll with stock stinger paddles than my stock head with KSJ paddles. same stability (no expo at all). I like it. Im also using a replacement 85t spur gear, 50 size tail rotor grip setup and will be putting on thier landing gear and tail boom. so far im happy. time will tell.

im going to be ordering a few stinger 90 parts for my R90 such as the belt setup, bearings, clutch liner. David seems to be a good guy to deal with.

8 tanks through my new Stinger 90 so far, and just starting to play. One bad auto into the woods when my new YS91 overheated a bit. Broke the landing gear, and dinged up my canopy. All alse survived well. Engine starting to come in now, and this afternoon I was doing some mild loops, rolls and flips. So far my only real complaint on quality was the lack of instructions, which Gohbee is fixing in next few weeks, and the gear was a bit weak, even considering the fact that I auto'd it through the trees

Flightwise, it needs lighter paddles. The stock ones are 53 grams and make the whole ship way sluggish. Fitted with a light set it should be a ball.

I have been watching the Gohbee site for 8 Months now and noticed that they are out on more than half of there products most of the time. But recently it looks like they have gotten a litte more in. Raptor parts are much easyer to get because many businesses carry them."Reputations are not built on things you were going to do"

Parts
I geuss that means they are selling alot of heli,s and parts .
I bet alot of his sales are Raptor owner's upgrading or replacing
parts on there heli's.
It's nice having a heli that if the dealer is out of parts. I can still find one that will work at most LHS.
Maby he could provide a list of dealers (LHS) on his webpage that stock Gohbee Helis & parts. So if he is out you still can order from them.
