Well, an F14 crashed into a neighborhood in Nashville after takeoff about 10 years ago and killed a few people and that didn't stop all militairy aircraft from flying.

Whatever it was, your not in avaiation as much as I am,I can gaurantee that.

Your a riot. I guess they should close all airports. I see GA and experimental aircraft flying into large hub airports all the time. If it were left up to folks like you, the Wright bros. would have not been able to do anything. Does it make you feel superior to be the most knowledgable aviation person on RR? You are a legend in your own mind.

Why is there even a chance at the show being stopped if these aircraft and the airshows are so "safe"?
Well, for one your arguments aren't making much sense. You propose that vintage aircraft are riskier than GA aircraft with no actual statistics to back up the claim.

You also support the idea that airshows should be stopped because of risk to residential areas without addressing the fact that ALL aviation presents some risk to residential areas. The fact that this crash occured during an airshow is actually not relevant. The crash could have as easily occured any day of the year.

Every time there is a newsworthy accident you'll get second-guessers proposing "solutions". Often these solutions aren't very well thought out.

rules are to keep the innocent safe
That may be the intention, but rules by themselves never actually accomplish this.

I repeat: What reduction in risk to a residential area near an airport would you realize by not holding an airshow at that location?

That plane would not have been in the air if there wasnt an airshow going on.
Then how did the plane get to that airport in the first place? Maybe it wouldn't have flown that day, but maybe it would. The vintage planes at our local airport fly even when there isn't an airshow going on.

ill give a couple quote a shot bc im bored
Whatever it was, your not in avaiation as much as I am,I can gaurantee that.
even after you were asked a couple times you never said what you do in aviation ... so its obvious that your aviation experience ends with flight sim 2004
fact is experimantal aircraft are the most unsafe aircraft in the air
this is untrue ... while there are many experimental aircraft which can be considered unsafe it is because their owners havent maintained them properly ... and there probably are just as many FAA certified aircraft which are unsafe because there owner hasnt properly mainted them ... even if you add all those aircraft up it is only a fractional amount of the total experimental and certified aircraft flying ... normally pilots are smart people and dont risk their own lives let alone anyone elses by flying a plane that has been maintained improperly

and the people flying vintage aircraft and aircraft that have been restored are usually some of the safest aircraft around ... they usually always have been in aviation for a lot of time and know what they're doing and have a lot of money to do it properly or they wouldnt have bought those types of aircraft ... theres a guy that keeps an old Navy biplane in the hangar across from where my plane is thats about 65 years old and id be willing to say its in the best shape of any plane on the whole airfield

I agree, you say that commercial aircraft are maintained better? How about Pemco (SP?) where a friend of mine worked, said he was sick of the place because no one kept track of the tools, or the various nuts and washers they took out either? He's now at nashville INTL and says the same stuff happens there. I guess these days anyone can buy a PPL or a A&P. Vintage planes arent more dangerous, If im not mistaken the boeing super stearman has never failed structurally in flight due to overstressing the aircraft.... some of them are still from the WWII era.....

No S**t,the possibility existed that more fatalities would have been suffered if it had been anywhere else in the city or if the house had people in it.
Yeah the world would be a safer place if we did away with all that could hurt us, ban mountain climbing, motorcycle riding, skydiving, car racing, hamburgers, fried foods, pesticides, kitchen knives, and sex. Then put us in plastic bubbles, feed us protien shakes intraveiniously, had triple filtered oxygen directly piped to our lungs. Yee ha! Now that would be a party!!!

You had better get busy and start living are hurry up and start dying!

Trolls are people that make comments that don't have any basis in fact, or are just to inflame folks. Usually their opinions differ from about 98% of any other opinions on a subject. They never fill out their profile, and they claim to know more about a subject that anyone else. Basically just posting to hear themselves talk...or type. Usually their version of reality is very different than anyone elses. Now back on topic.Gas is Great

How much damage could a vintage car...or any car for that matter really do.

My friends were sitting in that booth just a couple hours earlier.

Very interesting read anyways I have heard that the pilot could of ejected from the plane but of course as we know he didn't. I heard he didn't eject because he was making sure the jet wasn't going to wipe out the entire area so he stayed with the plane to the end. Anyone heard of this? I myself if I was flying that plane would of ejected but then something could of gone wrong with the ejection seat thrusters. Jimmi P.S. you sound like your arguing with yourself Now since you won here's your free cookie

If a vintage car crashed into a crowded shopping mall, how many people would it kill?how many could it have kill if it were this vintage jet.Cmon....dont argue,I will always win.

FYI Bob Guilford was a family friend who I have known for almost 30 years. I have flown with him in one of his aircraft before.

All scheduled maintenance was done on the aircraft, to the letter.

Right now the thinking is he had a heart attack as he took off.

Yes private warbirds are dangerous, but if you knew the first thing about Bob or the plane, many of the above statements would not be aired in such a callous manner.

Thankfully no one on the ground was hurt.
