What maneuver should I learn next?
hey everyone,

I've progressed quite nicely and ready to learn some new tricks to add to my arsenal. What do you think I should master next?

1. backwards upright flying
2. inverted hover in all directions (only can do nose in right now)
3. Upright tail in funnels
4. Upright nose in funnels

No, 1-4 are the maneuvers I want to add to my arsenal. I can do loops stall turns, flips rolls, death spirals inverted hover, tail slides, etc. etc. the basic aerobatic stuff.

Funnels are very fun stuff no matter how they're done - That's about the most advanced maneuver my little BCP will pull off (I use my H2 for more advanced stuff) but I love doing them both upright and inverted tight and low with it. Learn both nose-in and tail-in then combine them into fig8s. All very fun stuff.

Mikel, go with the inverted hovering in all orientations, it will come in very handy for tricks later.

Hi Mikel,

Just what Pete say, try to hover inverted in al directions. If you can do that, you can try to piroet inverted. That can be useful for all the piroetting manouvres.

Nando

I still can't do continuous pirouetting hovers upright. Hmm, actually I been practicing backwards upright flight (started practicing before I made this topic). I've gotten pretty good with it on the sim and I'm gonna give it a go this weekend with my Trex. I figure I've already started learning it, I might as well finish. Once I'm done... funnel figure 8's maybe? Probably inverted in all directions.

funnel 8's require you to be proficient with "inverted" (disk out) funnels as well as upright (disk in). i don't think you're at that stage yet, are you?

You can do funnel 8s all disk-in (upright)

Nose-in around one half of the 8 then pull aft cyclic to transition into the tail-in half of the 8.

You're always giving the same direction of lateral cyclic but transitioning with fore/aft cyclic and giving opposite tail rotor for nose-in and tail-in.

ahh...good call. i'm more used to seeing the upright/invert switch at the crossover point. just like snakes with the tail held straight up or down.

Here's a micro heli vid with the maneuver both upright and inverted at around the 1:15 mark. http://www.duzi.cz/duzi_hornet2_2004_01.wmv

Nah - That's the guy that makes and sells all those great aluminum parts you see on that heli and mine. (Martin Duzi - His brother Lukas likely behind the camera)
I've gotten a lot of inspiration out of that video - Even in choosing that heli.

Thought I'd bring this thread back to the top... Quantum I remember we messaged each other like 6-8 months ago. At the time, I started flying in January and you started a few weeks ahead of me.

Here are the moves I am doing now:

-- nose in flips, rolls
-- loops with piro at the top
-- death spirals no problem
-- stall turn/tail slide into backward loop
-- stall turn/tail slide with roll 360 degrees at the top
-- complete figure 8 inverted flight no problem and circles
-- upright and inverted funnels (tail outside only)

Things to get down next:

-- tic tocs, they still suck, I use thumbs and the aileron always gets in the way
-- rainbows
-- backwards upright and inverted
-- tying moves together
-- autos, never done one

See you at the end of the year!

Best,
Kris
