Fuel tank and line question?
I have been having a lot of issues with the predator recently. After going thru 3 engines, and 4 carbs this year trying to sort them out I have discovered that the fuel tank brown stopper has disintegrated, leaving some brown rubber in the tank. There are also white crusty small pieces in the tank apparently from the stens fuel clunk falling apart. Isn't the brown stopper supposed to be fuel proof, where a previous version was not?

I have a new tank and plug arrangement, but am just trying to understand what happened. Also the stens plastic filter floats on the zinc piece freely, no friction, is it ready to be disposed of? I backflushed it and examined, and it is not clogged or darkening.

Also I have been using MA fuel line bukheads as is commonly used to get line thru the tank. Is it smart to use a long line from the clunk, thru a hole drilled snug, direct to the carb? Lawn trimmers and such usually use this method and it seems to work. All of the chromed fuel stops I have used have always had a less than desireable seal at eack juncture, where I get concerned that air is getting by.
