No, but I'd try the 9000S before that one. Either way the word "surface" scares me away from both.

I have been flying these servos on one of my Vibes, great servos, work very well.
I use Duralite 4200mAh Li-Po battery with 5.6 regulator and everything is doing great there.

These servos seem a bit stronger than my the servos I use on my other Vibe's, JR 8455 (not an American number).

If the surface designation is of concern, here is the equivalent air version of it: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Product...rodID=JRPS8611A

It isn't the same servo, look on the speed specs...

Chen,
You are right, it isn't exactly the same servo, but the specs are extremely close. The speed and torque spec for the DZ9000T is given at 6 V. The speed spec for the DS8611A is given at 4.8 V. If you adjust that speed for 6V, it would be about 0.14 s compared to the DZ9000T's 0.15 s.

Sorry, I was just trying to point out that there is an air servo with extremely similar specs.

Why would it being a "surface" servo be a bad thing? My buddy has been running Futaba 9351's (an 1/8 scale servo) for years now... I think a car servo is designed to take WAY more abuse than a Heli or and Plank servo...

Am I completely wrong?

Thanks,
Jake

Normally that "surface" designation wouldn't scare me a bit especially having raced 1:8 on and off road for years, but JR had some servos that ended up not being recommended for heli use. Therefore I place some value on that "surface" designation.

True, the only think I can think of about not being good for Heli use is High Fequency vib's... cars dont have anywere near the same about of moving parts or spinning mass...

The torque or the speed version??? 320 oz. in. seems like overkill. I like the 9000S at 128 and .06.

BTW Chen. What Gyro/Servo and does it hold up OK on that voltage?

I certainly didn't intend to sound like I was second-guessing a master.

If Chen Zarfati uses the T version it must be the one to use but I suspected he might be using the S. Just curious which it is.

That would answer the power vs. speed question for me for once and for all.

Congrats on the 3DM win!

Sorry I didn't notice that it was 'T', I use the 'S' version, also very strong servos for CCPM.

I'm using in my machines 7000t JR gyro, holds well and has an extremly fast prio rate.

Thanks for your words guys.

Hi Chen,
How are those DZ9000S servos holding up? Gear slop? Does the resolution feel as good as the 8317's? What about the centering?
Lot of questions I know. I want to try these in my new heli so I'm doing my homework.

Thanks,

Jay

Hey Jay

Now I have two helis with DS8455 servos and two with 9000s servos.

All the helis work very well the 9000's are a bit stronger, I have these servos for a long time and the centering is good, there is no play in the gear.

I think you'll enjoy these servos.
