pro 1 system
Everyone,

Several people have inquired about the new Pro mount that I recently purchased from Airfoil. I have been slow to post this as I have never in my life been as busy as I am at the moment. Please forgive me.

I could not be more pleased with this system. Video to follow.

That mount looks awesome. A buddy of mine just bought one of these mounts as well. I think he's gonna get his soon. I am anxious to hear what he thinks as well.

I sent a PM also regarding the camera.

The endless 360 pan feature, has dramatically reduced the workload on both the camera and helicopter opperater. Simple and clean with no landing gear obstructions and smooth clean flight lines that allow the camera opperator to fly the camera extreemly smoothly.
Travis,
You are correct on all counts! It has certainly made our job easier.

Around 20lbs. if my memory is correct. I can confirm in the am.

I would expect around 25-30 minuets on a gasser...

No way... you don't have the "auto pilot" cripes, the camera guy would do more work then you.

Condor + Pro 1 + CARVEC = Happy Camper

This mount uses 1 battery to power up the gyro, RX,servo's and video downlink ( no noise issues). Through the connector you can charge the on board battery without removing it, and also run external power source to spin up the gyro, flip switch from external to main and everything runs on board battery, additional switches for powering rx and video downlink. One last switch changes from LANC video or LANC digital camera. Will be adding CARVEC unit soon, I should be picking up a Condor tomorrow. I've been test flying with a R&D Predator Gasser. Total weight without CARVEC and a full tank of fuel eaxctley 24 lbs.

Thank John (Airfoil)
Thanks John (CARVEC)
Thanks Peter (Century)

You all have made great accomplishments.

It is a truly awesome mount. It's so nice to never hear your cameraman say "okay, can you turn a little left..." Just park the ship and let them do the rest!

I'm with you Brad! Funny thing is, my wife said that in the beginning and every once in a while she still says it. Then she realizes she can point the camera anywhere she wants. Flying video is fun too because you can concentrate on flying the heli smoothly and the camera operator can pan/tilt all they want and never see noodles!

Perry,
What's your weight of the Pro1+CARVEC+camera?

Thanks!

Tony,

The weight I specified was with the camera, this happened to be with a trv-900 (2 lb. 12 0z), with the largest battery availeable. The CARVEC unit will be just under 1 lb. that includes adding a second battery that is required because the system uses an opto isolation circuit. When it's all said and done the total gross weight will be 25 lbs. However I will be changing to a lighter video camera.

Hope this helps

Perry,
I meant just the mount + CARVEC + your camera but you more or less answered my question by telling me how much weight the CARVEC system would add to the equation. Is "just under one pound" the weight for everything in the CARVEC system?

Thanks!
