Advice on new heli purchase
Hello,
I am in the market for a new heli and was giving serious thought to getting a carbon Logo 10. I am not interested in (nor capable of) performing any aerobatics, just some simple weekend easy flying. With this in mind, I am primarilly interested in a machine that is as stable as I can make it and will provide decent flight times.

Can anyone provide suggestions on what parts to get and where to purchase said parts? I have a JR 8103 pcm radio and a Microlader lipo charger, but will need to purchase everything else. Again, just looking for a setup that is as stable as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Have you considered a L14? Capable of autos unlike the L10 models. Other than that they are great models. Are you planning on running Lipos or Nicad/Nimh or Emolis?? These would make a difference in cost vs flight times as well. Important upgrades would be a aluminium cnc motor mount for sure! Then maybe a cnc'd bearing block. Look at CustomHeliparts for some aftermarket goodies!! Good places to buy from FXAeromodels and Readyheli. Other than that I would suggest reading throught some of the threads here to get a better understanding of setups/cells/headspeed/esc/ubec. Good Luck and I am sure a few others will chime in and give a few tips as well.

bitrate,

Guess it all depends on your bank account. Bigger is better is heavier thus more stable.

However, I have a stock logo 10 Deluxe 06 kit on 13 NIMH batteries and a Hacker A30-8XL and can loop, roll and flip no problem. Max headspeed of 1800RPM and 10 minutes of flight time. Stable as a rock too! For a simple inexpensive heli you can't beat it.

However, if money isn't an issue go big!

Hi, Birate,

For your style of flying as you described, a Logo 10 is a almost perfect heli for you.

Logo 10 Carbon is a good choice, though Logo 10-3D with plastic frames is just as capable.

For easy flying without aerobatics, 4S lipo setup does do well. But 6S with a motor like Kontronic Tango 45-10 will provide you with more than enough power without bogging for easy flying. Both 4S and 6S setups are capable of loops, rolls and inverted, if you get into that. I know people do tic-tacs with 12 cell NiMH too. 8S, 10S and up are for hard 3D's, and the cost goes way up.

Although the tail is not driven in Logo 10, it can do autorotations without problem, unless you want to do aerobatic autorotation.

Convenient factor also comes into play. As CloudyIFR stated, usually the bigger the more stable. A Logo 24 is big and stable, for instance. But, you can fly a Logo 10 in a baseball field but that would be too small for even a Logo 14. For Logo 24, I can only fly in a large field of a size equal to 3-4 football field. Unless you have a large field nearby that you can use, Logo 10 is a perfect size for everyday, after work fun.

I don't know for sure, but I believe that most of the heli hobbysts fly like you do -- easy, sport flying for pure fun.

True statement? L10 can't auto? Why?

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses!
I'm pretty sure that I want to go with lipo's... a 6s probably. Anyone know which Hacker motor / pinion would be good with this?

logo 10s are perfectly capable of autos. They are even more capable with logo 10 extension kit so you can run 550 blades.

I have never seen an auto anything like the auto on the logo 10 i saw sunday.
