Please help me out on my new setup!
Having recently bought the Pheonix 35 and using the link, I am trying to understand the govenor mode. I have the Jr 9303 with the Align 430l. I have 0 pitch center stick, and 11 on both ends. I mostly hover and do precision movements, close to the ground.

Since there are so many settings on the CC 35, I am not exactly sure what I should be using.

Could someone pleas advise exactly what settings I should use, both for the cc 35 and the radio, such as throttle curve, pitch curve, etc.

I tried setting the throttle curve at 0,80,80,80,80, and the trex seem out of control.

Help is appreciated, again.

if you're 'mostly hovering', there is no need for +/-11 of
pitch. It makes it hard to do precision moves.

Thank you for your reply. When I say I mostly hover, I actually do a little more than that, but what I was trying to understand is the basic setup in the govenor mode. Would changing the pitch take care of my problems? Not sure.

I assume that you are using the standard software that ships with the P35, not the new 1.51 software that is loaded using the Phoenix link cable.

DISABLE the current limit setting.
DISABLE the brake.

Do NOT use the Auto Calibrate mode, as it requires you to go to full throttle for two seconds after arming the ESC in order for the ESC to figure out where full throttle is.

Select the Fixed throttle mode. Have a linear 0 to 100% throttle curve selected in your transmitter. Remove the pinion from the motor temporarily, or remove the drive gear from your T-Rex so you can run up the motor without the head spinning like mad.

Arm the ESC, then go to full throttle. Adjust the throttle endpoint on your transmitter so that the RED LED on the ESC comes on solid, and stays on solid at full throttle. This calibrates the ESC to the full throttle setting of your transmitter.

If you want to run the governor mode, with the 430L I believe you want to choose the "high" governor mode to get the desired head speed you are looking for.

Put the pinion or main gear back in the heli and secure the screws as necessary. Assuming that you have a 5-point throttle curve, you'll set your normal mode throttle curve to something on the order of 0 - 80 - 80 - 80 - 80. The "0" lets you connect the battery with the stick at low throttle and not have the ESC start to spin up on you. The rest of the numbers -- all the same (and not necessarily "80" are set to give you the head speed you are looking for. The "80" number is just an example. It may be that you find you get your desired head RPM at a number other than "80". Whatever number you find for your desired head speed is the number you dial in for the remaining four positions.

In other flight modes, simply set the throttle curve to that same number for all five throttle points.

Soft start usually works pretty good for the Align 430L in the T-Rex, "softest" is just too slow.

This ought to get you up and running. If you are running the standard P35 software (again, not the 1.51 stuff that you'd download using the Phoenix Link cable), here is a PDF document from Castle Creations that explains each of the settings in that software, in detail:

Hope it gets you up and running OK. If you have the Phoenix link cable and are a bit adventurous, download the latest Castle Link software. Also read the set up information on that page that goes along with the newest software. Some of the explanations in that new document with regard to the governor modes do a pretty good job of explaining the setups in the P35.
