I have built Many -a- helicopter for lots of folks who ordered them online assembled. We'll just say I've been doin this a long time.
I fly for fun now and no longer build heli's for others. I can submit a picture or two to help out though.

Notice the gyro lead run outside of the frame from the servo leads. This builds in a carbon wall between the signals of the servos and the gyro, and carbon is known to stop a signal. I also run the ESC in the bottom in back, as far from the rx as possible. The only problem with my setup is the antenna wire has to go near the servo leads to be routed out of the canopy to the micro deans antenna. and that heat and headspeed trouble I've been yapping about. I don't much like the bend in my esc wires at the rear either, but I havn't had any problems with arching or glitches. This also propels air from the main gear fan down on the ESC to help keep it cooler too.

There are so many different ways to lay out the esc, battery, receiver.....that its hard to choose....each have their own advantage and disatvantage.....I guess I'm trying to have the best of each.

one more thing.... I've noticed your gyro is mounted in the standard position.

You may want to consider mounting it upsidedown to protect it from a possible paddle strike.

I've made my own using a piece of plastic mounted on the tail block with double-sided foam tape (inverted as well) to provide a platform to mount the gyro.

Those wires look a little too close for me next to the main gear.

I know the gyro should be mounted on the bottom,,,,I just need to make a plate for it to set on...I will try it like this for now...just hope I don't have a boom strike....I agree with BTDT.... your WIRES look a little close to the main gear....

You could always place it inside the frame on the bottom where I placed my ESC and leave the gyro plate out, to save a gram or two. This will also keep the gyro settings facing up. You should make a habbit of checking your gyro light is on solid before you fly. I have had the gyro fail to initialize heading hold on startup sometimes and get a suprise. Set the gyro gain switch to 75% high and 50% low, that way if you need to initialize heading hold after power on, you can do so by flicking the gain switch 3 times and verifying that the gyro light is on solid.
(assuming you use a 401)
If the gyro light is blinking, you are not in heading hold mode, or you are wiggling the tail stick back and fourth. (or the heli tail)
gain needs to be above 50% (I believe it was 50%, might be higher. read the manual ) for the heading hold to be active in the 401 gyro.

I have the gyro set for both heading hold and non-heading hold....I am now changing the control horn length, putting heat sink on the leads and moved all the wires to the inside...Also, will put heat sink on the antenna lead where it contacts the frame....I like to be perfect on the way the heli looks....

BDTD and meekskin,

Hmm, hadn't noticed that before re: wires being too close to the main gear.

I'll have to check that out.

Thanks!!!!

BTW, I typically set mine up for 90 degrees at half stick, servo horns all horizontal, and the length of the link rods to the swash adjusted so that it would have 0 degree pitch on the blades.

The front servos inside the frame? That'll make it line up better. It's a pain to install the back plate for the screws but it makes it 90 degree in and out of the frame.

All the links including the head links at half stick should give you zero degree pitch.

Guys,

I have my pitch curves set up as follows.

Normal---38,45.53,75,100.....this gives me -6 to +11

Idle 1....32,42,62,76,100....this give me -9 to +11

Will this be ok to start....I can go lower on the Idle 1 to get -11 if I want...What I don't understand is why its not 0 to get -11...

any suggestions.

Man, get that gyro off the top of the boom. In a crash, the flybar can go right through the thing perched on top like that. Buy or make a custom mount for under the boom where it'll be protected.A helicopter is 10,000 parts spinning rapidly around an oil leak.

I don't care who you aspire to be, just get that antenna wire away from the motor and esc. The Electron6 is allready glitch magnet!
