gear problem
i bought a second hand t-rex se.
this is my first one so there are some things i'm not sure of.
the maingear for example.
the upper one(the one against the motor)moves up and down.
only a little bit if pushed up and down by hand
is this normal or should i adjust this?

and then also about the gyro.
i fly a gy-401 with the futaba 9650.
should i use the 401 in digital mode with this servo or not?

Use the gyro in digital mode with the 9650.
My SE main gear has a little bit of wiggle but nothing major. How much wiggle you talking here?

If it only wiggles up and down, you should be ok. Make sure the main shaft colar isn't moving up and down too, otherwise you'll have to hold the main gear from the bottom while pressing down and tightening the main shaft colar. If it's just the gear, you should be ok. 1mm up and down is fine. 1mm forward and backwards, and you have a real problem =)
Just be sure the shaft colar is tight, and check over the whole heli. Just cause you got it used doesn't mean the last guy assembled and flew it right, or even got all the screws in with loctite on the metal/metal surfaces. Check the whole thing to prevent a crash!

You might want to remove the main gears and make sure the small collar is installed. It is real easy to drop this even when you are aware it is there.

Also, make sure the oneway bearing is flush with the face of the large gear on top. The small sleeve them makes up the difference in the driven oneway sleeve and the distance between the two main shaft bearings.

The collar holds the whole works in place but should be pushed down as the lower end is puhed up during final tightening of the collar setscrew.

One guy had a video of his main gear rising and falling a couple mm at least. I suggested poor assembly and missing parts as a cause and he said it was assembled perfect.

NOT !
