Lucky Escape
So there i was, hovering about 30 feet above the ground with my rappy 30, with a brand new Futaba 9255 on the pitch, with a futaba metal servo arm...man was i chuffed. when i put it in i added a bit of locktite to the servo screw becuase the servo head is metal. fine i think itll never come out. hahaha...my impatience got the better of my. without 15 minutes of loctiting it. i flew. then the screw came out. and the arm came off. the Heli dropped like a stone. stopped about 10 feet above the ground, then dropped again and hit the ground HARD! but i have the evor raptor which comes standard with a aluminium undercarriage. which merely bent and splayed out. so there sat the heli...flat on the ground...blades turning as if nothing was wrong! if that had been a plastic undercarriage. it would have been put back into kit form.

i definitely recommend waiting for loctite to cure and getting an aluminium undercarriage!

15 minutes seems very quick for a servo screw to come out!. Glad there was no major damage though!## Inteligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit...Common sense is not putting it in a fruit salad

Why did it stop falling and dropped again suddenly... Seems strange to me.

Doesn't seems the right explanation for the story. But then I guess you had an undone servo arm after your "landing"...

I would have tought that with the servo arm removed, the heli would go either way but no play "stop and go".

thanks for sharing though

thats the part that ive been pondering as well. maybe on impact the arm came off completely. perhaps it was only slipping before that. either way i flew it afterwards and it was fine. thankfully.

Perhaps the pitch 'tray'? was sticky as well.
