Yep, power certainly helps. The shortcoming of the 30 size in the past was the weakness of the power plants. But in my fleet I have two 30's, one with the OS37 and one with the Toki 40.

Believe me these do not lack for power. I have won vertical drags against Rappy 50's with them. It is a pocket 3D rocket.

Of the two the Hawk Pro with the Toki is a real performer and its light weight (just under 7 pounds) make auto's a piece of cake.

I have found the Toki puts out more power and consumes a LOT less fuel then the OS37. But the needles cannot be set in the same way as the OS. They have to be opened a lot more then the OS. Both the main and the Hover needles have to be about 4.25 turns opened.

I heard the toki 40 will fit a raptor or a stinger, but personally for 256.00 http://WWW.Gohbee.com has conversion kits for the stinger/raptor with all needed to convert from 30 to 50.RIP Roman

Adryan,

There is a BIG difference between the power of the Toki 40 and the TT39.

The logo 10 extented with 550mm carbons, much more power than any nitro 50, and some say that it has more power than a nitro 90. I have only flown a nitro 50, and the logo has much more power." your never to low until you hit the ground ''

I've never had the experience of flying a 90... even on the sim (fms and g3 demo only), except after this weekend when I had a chance to play with one. If the G3 90 size helis perform like that in real life (or even close to it) than I have been missing something. I thought my 30 was good enough (top notch electronics) but still, no comparison. If the 50 has similar flight characteristics to the 90 then it should not even be a question. I have decided to upgfrade to a 50.

Ive been advised to change the TT39 to an OS 37/MP2...(Toki, I've been told is not consistent for our climate) but even then, can I compare both to a 50 hyper. The 30 size motor is great, if starting out. But now that I am trying to learn some 3D manuevers, I feel that it's becoming more of a setback.

I love my 30, without a doubt... but I guess I'm inclined to agree when they recommend the 50 over a 30...(although I've yet to get the 50 hyper)

I have seen a properly set-up Toki-40 powered Hawk Pro outperform a not as well set up 90.

But all things being equal, any powerful 50 or powerful 30 will not outfly a 90 just due to the relationship of reynolds numbers to the different disc sizes....and the relative torque of the big-bloks.

I have a webra 55 in my R50 awesome power to weight ratio and all that....

but I do fly my 30 size raptor the most mainly because I can put it in my car boot with the shelf on (don't know its there if you can't see it) and go fly on lunch times for 10 - 20 mins, it is stock 30 size but has a TT46 in it!

My old beat up junker 30 has a bad bearing; cracked frames, tail case glued to the boom, junky old servos, tons of slop in the control links, won't stay tuned.... and it is my current favorite.

Just more relaxing to fly than the others. More willing to try new stuff with it, so i end up having more fun.

Sometimes less is more.

I've been flying the CP Blade for awhile and then when I switch to my Trex I think I need lots of space to fly this. After painting the Trex with flourescent colors then it was even bigger. When I fly my 30 I'm thinking I need at least a large field cause now I can really see and hear this thing buzz around. Going from the blade to the 30 in the same field is a huge change, and with that scenario, of course you'ld have to say no the 30 isn't too small.
If you are terribly near sighted then maybe a 90 could be too small. A CP blade can be too big in your garage. So maybe where you are flying makes your 30 too small, if it is, find a smaller field and the 30 will fit better.
Your question does revolve around physical size more than power doesn't it?
