you should set up your tail mechanically with about 5 degrees of opposite pitch (to the direction of the rotor) rather than just mechanically zero. Once you do this, then you should put the heli in "Rate" mode (non-head holding).
Those settings are correct. That is to make sure the neutral settings of the gyro gives enough pitch of the tail blades to compensate for torque in hover mode meaning your gyro won't have to work as hard in hover.

The drift you are getting is maybe because you are in rate mode the whole time or you a revo mix is active with your AVCS mode. You have to make sure you turn off any kind of Revo mix with AVCS mode or you'll get a drift on your tail. Also, before you can use the heading hold feature of the GY601 or the GY611, you have to activate it through the Amplifier. You have to select CMT to make your radio be able to switch from AVCS to Rate mode and Vice Versa. That feature is not on by default. 38% is way too low of a setting unless your are overspeeding your headspeed.

Also, in JR Radios, you have to plug the Gyro(Yellow wire) in Aux2 to make the radio be able to control the switch and not in channel 5 like in Futaba Radios.

Gents,

I had set up Gyro in normal mode to hover without drift. So mechanical setup was good. Its HH that I had the drift. No matter what gain setting the drift was there. I had no revo mix or anything else bad in the TX.

As I said only solution was to move gyro senor to front tray and use CSM tape. Nothing else fixed the problem.

I am so happy with this machine now. Its performance is mind blowing.

I do hear a noise when when I piroette fast. ie pull up into stall and pin the rudder stick I hear a funny noise. Any ideas ?

Regards
Chris

Hi chrisvau

Sounds like you had vibrational precession of the sensor - its not a defect of the sensor but just comes out of the physics of the thing. I posted a description of the cause on an earlier thread which may be of interest:-
