jimbo,
im not really sure, but I believe its in a range of 24XXrpm
Ive read that higher voltage systems are more efficient, so thats why Ive been thinking that 5s might be a good option over the lower voltage larger capacity packs.

Quick sells a motor on thier website thats made in Japan by Hobbynet, its a 10 turn motor rated at 990kv and weighs 136gms. Its about $50 Im tempted to buy one because the calcs. would yield an efficient system on 5s, however im not sure of the max rpm and wattage ratings, so this has put me off buying one.

jimbo,
It does a little but its somthing that ive learned to control with flight habits and a good pitch setup. Keep in mind that my heli is 95% CF including the blades, so it is light and doesnt take much to lift out. Ive been very selective at what i installed on there to keep the weight down. I can feel a difference in weight when I fly my 16C 276gm 3100mah 4s and 20C 336gm 3300mah 4s, even though the heavier pack has more capacity and a higher C rating, it effects the climbout, but the larger pack can perform longer and stays cooler.

Hey Jimbo.....
I will keep you posted on the LightStorms....I am using an A30 10L with a 17T pinion on my 8. Flight times should be great with 3700 mah capacity. I have used their batteries in other helis and they have performed very well. I will also be using the same battry on my 18 with a 17 or 18T and a new Hacker A40 as soon as they become available..they're about 4 months over due but look to be a good fit for the QJ-18 at about 1000 watt rating.

Hi tyree, I am running pretty much the same set-up as you , A30-10L 4s1p3250mah Tanic pack 20C (awsome batteries) 17T pinion(2275rpm) and man this EP-8 I guess was designed for the 4s1p 3000 or more mah because with this set-up it flies realy realy GOOD!! I dont fly 3D but I fly pretty hard, loops ,rolls inverted , just hard fun flying , and on these 2 Tanic 3250 packs I can fly for 9 minutes and only have to put an average of 1600-1700 mahr back in the packs.EP8 EX twinring frame

Jimbo...
That sounds cool....
I read some of your earlier posts ...about that setup and saw the batts on sale and couldn't resist Originally had 3s batteries

I will try the 9 minute routine and see how much I have to put back in the Hyperion batts.

One question....what ESC are you using....and does it get HOT ?

tyree, I am using the CC Pheonix HV 45 amp , and it never gets over 98* degres Far. The batteries never get over 100 degres. The A30-10L gets to 119-120 degrees (with fan) it all stays real cool...EP8 EX twinring frame
