So now my 3d pro is flying better i decide i would treat it to a JGF 400DF with 15t pinion, currently it's running a airpower 400dh with 10t which gives me about 2600 at 90% 0 degrees pitch, im measuring this with my the eagletree micropower.
So today i put it in only to find that my max headspeed is 1700, wont go any higher, change motors back and the 400dh measures 2600 again.
I have maxed the travel limit and th curve, reprogrammed esc and the throttle width (esc is quark 22A), using 3s 15c 1250mah lipo not freshly charged but lowest volatage dip was 10.11 on my short tests).
What have i got wrong .

Hey,

Could it perhaps be a duff motor? From the sounds of it I'd be inclined to think so in this case, from what I have read here the 400DF is a great motor & should rev the head more than what you are getting. Especially with a 15t pinion fitted.

Thx for the reply.
I figured it out, i had used an old model for the different motor in my micropower and it had the gear ratio wrong .
All is good, now just need my trex blades & belt and see how it goes.

Hey,

No worries your welcome. Glad you sorted it all out.

So it was just the gear ratio holding the motor back from revving?

No the gear ratio on the software was set at 0.7 instead of 1.0 therefor reporting it much lower, im crap at judging headspeeds that's why i buy things to tell me

geeo, are you using the EagleTree recorder to measure rpm? If so how are you mounting the sensor? I just picked one up and am trying to suss out the best way to go about it...

Geeo-

How does the 400DF compare to the 400DH? I'm looking for a new motor for my 3DPro and I'd like to hear a comparison of these two motors. Thanks.

Hi Neil.

I epoxied the magnets to the main gear on opposite struts, then i cut a little bit of plastic and taped it to the pitch servo and glued the sensor on that, works fine and i can remove the sensor easily.

T.J i have an airpower 400dh (europeanmake same spec's)not a JGF, I have only limited tests with the 400df on hornet 255 blades which have a thin chord so liftout is slow but it's not the motors fault, im just waiting on a trex belt and blades to stretch it out a bit and then gove both motors a good test. The reason i got the 400df though is because everyone raves about it.
