I finally got a better battery for my Trex, a TP 4s-2100, and have been trying higher headspeeds. I noticed during an abrupt climb at 2500 rpm that the red LED on my CC35 lit up indicating full power. I decided to try a throttle curve instead of governor mode. At +10 degrees of pitch, I could not get more than 23700 rpm. Is this normal?

Any thoughts on this? Should this motor/battery combo be able to pull a higher rpm at max pitch?

I dont have a 4S configuration running but based on extrapolation from my 3S config, even very conservatively, I'd say you should be getting more than 2400RPM with the 9T. Could be a timing issue with the ESC.

Thanks Daniel, I've got my timing set to standard advance.

Any input would be appreciated.

RPMs with a Neu 1105 on 4-cells.....
I am using a Neu 1105/3Y/3.2 with an 11 tooth pinion. My battery is a Pro-lite TP2100 4-cell connected to a Jazz 40-6-18 ESC in GOV Mode.

The 11 tooth pinion may be marginally too much but it works fine using the following throttle points in my 9Z:

Thr ATV= +/- 100

Throttle curve settings give the following measured RPM's...

"16" = approx. 2200 rpms (0 degrees pitch)
20 = 2300
35 = 2600
55 = 3000
65 = 3100
80 = 3500

Currently in Idle Up mode the maximum RPM's I am using is 55 (3000).
I do not want to go above 80 to see what RPMs I could obtain because
even 3000 seems like enough. I am also using the blue tail gear that
reduced tail rotor speed.

Thanks hpilotrc,

If you punch it, are you able to maintain that rpm? Or does it bogg down?

Max RPM's
The heli with that combo has plenty of power. I lowered the headspeed because it had too much. The more power the less flight time. You have select somewhere in between depending on your flight style.

If I keep the headspeed at 2.6K I can fly for almost 15 minutes. However if it is at 3K I am lucky to get 9 minutes.
