Just being a newb to the hobby I have been starting to gather parts to build a few helis...

I have a Hitec Eclipse 7 now but in the future would like to upgrade to the JR 9103...

Are there receivers that will work with both radios so I don't have to buy all new receivers when I upgrade my radio to a JR 9103..

I have an Electron 6 RX so far...Is that compatible with JR for later as I know it works with my radio now...

Also anything after the receiver is that all compatible? I ask like if I used an Electron 6 for the RX would a Futaba digital tail servo and a JR Gyro all work together then (HS 56s on the swash)

Thanks...sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but I just don't want to get the wrong stuff and am just learning this stuff

the electron 6's that I have are negative shift so they will work with Futaba and hitec...but not JR or airtronics. I am pretty sure you can get positive shift electron 6's. your servo's and such don't care.
You can get a dual conversion rx that will go both ways...

The ones I have ordered before you had to be neg or pos shift specific.
So I would say NO to the best of my knowledge they don't. but I know $hit and new stuff comes out everyday it seems like. I have used the GWS 8 ch dual conversion...cost the same as electron 6 and never had a problem. You could check hitecs site for a dual or you would need a pos shift for your JR.

just to clarify, dual conversion has nothing to do with the shift. (the post made it sound like this allows you to use either futaba/hitec or JR/airtronics). DC just describes how many filters the incoming signal goes through. it is a feature of noise reduction.

there are several receivers that are shift select, meaning they can be used either positve or negative. however, your electron6 is not one of them. it is negative shift (for use with your hitec radio). it will need to be replaced to use with your JR. however, if you get a postive shift electron6, you can reuse the crystal from the neg-shift unit if you purchase the same freq. JR tx)

there is also a very good product called the seeker6 sold by polk. i love this receiver. it is not only shift independent, but channel independent. (basically, you attach a lead and have it 'learn' what your TX is sending. you only need to repeat this procedure if you want to change the TX it 'listens' to.)

to clear things up for you, the receiver is the only thing you really need to worry about being compatible with your radio. these days servos, gyros, etc. are all compatible with one another--you might have to do some work on the connectors to get them to fit (a Futaba J plug into a JR receiver for example)---but they work fine. it's sometimes tricky setting them up--as the manuals always assume you are using a their brand. i had a heck of a time trying to set up my GY401 for use with my JR radio the first time--but it does work fine.

hope that helps.

if it ain't broke, break it.
