I think I like the soft start mostly for testing purposes. I figure that eventually I'll be testing (or fixing) the heli and accidently goose the collective while my hands, face, or other body parts are near the model. At least with the soft start I can avoid some permanent injury.

Although if the machine is already spooled, and you have not had the stick at 0 for at least 20 seconds, then ALL BETS ARE OFF!!!!! CHOP CHOP CHOP.....
