2208/20. just look for the smallest sized axi on aircraft-world.com with a kv of 1880. Between the MS-116 esc is a 25A esc.....

That's a good qns joker....

It's 57g... so it's 8g heavier and a bit bigger than the 2208/20... it's no load current is higher (1.2A v 0.8A) And it has high kV of 1950... u cud go down one tooth... My guess is that it will have more power ..... then i saw the max eff. current.. It's 14A-22A. It's worth a shot... maybe it'll be like the 450TH in a TREX.... Run-times shorter? Worth a shot...

I dont think you need anymore power TBH, the 2208/20 can get you 3000rpm which is more than enough headspeed, the things a spec in the sky before you can blink

And that 3000 headspeed is reachable only with a big pinion that may not fit that easily....Let's say nominal voltage is 10.8... than u'll only need a 26tooth pinion to get >3000 hs..... up to which I dont know if the stock head will hold up ( although in the older Hornet forum posts... there were people flying H1s at 3000 headspeed)....

for a 8gram difference.... 200grams more of max lifting limit for helis.....

not bad .... so to get a 2500 hs.... a 21t pinion would suffice... not bad........ If it would make meshing even better.... what's there to lose? Besides... AXi's aren't really going to blow a hoole in one's pocket....

My question is that it's rated max. eff. current is 14A to 22A... Flying the hornet hard won't push to more than 12A..... I reckon... won't the motor be running hot due to low eff.? Plus .. does that mean we need some serious batteries like 1320s as minimal capacity?

Let's see... with a 360g Hornet.... Bigger motor... smaller pinion... the new TPs 1320 can do 13C....17Amps... maybe we'll throw more tail blades? Or maybe we can run 3000hs.. without bogging on the extreme ends of the pitch?

more input please!

I'm running an Axi-Twister and never used anything but 1320 prolites. I can't understand why people think they need more power, I think the twister is perfect for the hornet myself. I don't care to exceed the 2800 range.

Captain Chaos
I agree with you. I I have the almost the same setup as yours. twisterX motor and 1320 prolites. Power band is really strong. Maybe because I have the duzi gear. Seems like the gearing is the most important thing. Im running a 12t pinion with the new style main gear and the headspeed seems to hold much better than the stock MG. i really need to get some vids posted. I will try this weekend if weather permits

Just to add.... So far I only know of another 2 Outrunners being used on the Hornet 2... One is the 400DH which Boyd "Hoverup" is using on RCG..... The other one is the Somodini... used by Hans-Otto... which is around 30 grams.....

Power!!!

Any newbie reading this thread will probably wanna buy the AXI2212/12 ( I made a mistake in the earlier post....) as a motor for helis... I think it'll lift up to a Trex.....
