I am getting ready to build a TRex 450XL CCPM. I have the Spektrum DX6 RX TX. I would like advice on a brushless motor, ECS, and Gyro.
I want to do it right the first time.

Don't tell my wife it crashed!!

I've just read throughout the TRex forum and came up with my own conclusions on what to buy. I'm pretty much set on what I want...nothing too crazy but looking around $700 (without radio)

Remember when flying inverted that down is up and up is EXPENSIVE!

It seems that I should buy a GY401 Gyro. What servo should I use for the tail. Is the digital servo worth the money??

On my 450xl I'm running a Mega 16/15/3 on 13T pinion, Castle Creations Phoenix 35, Medusa Research 2amp external BEC, HS-56 servos on the cyclic, an HDS-877 micro digital servo on the tail, and a JR G500T gyro and Thunder Power 3S 2100mah lipo. Flies great, and not an expensive setup.

Guys swear by the 401, but I like to try new things and the 500T gyro teamed up with the 877 on the tail works great, rock-solid tail control. If I could do it again, I'd probably get a Kontronik ESC instead of the CC35, people say they govern better and have better-rated BEC's. But the rest of the stuff is great for an all-around setup (good performance with good flight time).

Kit and radio aside, if I remember correctly all of this stuff cost about $550.
