She is sweet! Fresh off the bench with a cleaned up wiring job, rudder servo moved to the safe side, Reverse Servo Mount installed, and a fresh pair of Finless Fins. Life is good! Only thing I have left to do is put on a 3mm tube for my rudder rod. Thanks to all of you out there that have helped me along the way!!

Looks like the 401 is fired up. Did you have the battery pluged in for the snap shots?

Yea, I fired her up so that the servos would be in the right spots. As a bonus, I got a couple nice shots with some lights lit. I haven't flown her for a week while I was do the detailing. Tomorrow she will be flying! Thanks for the compliments. This is such a great bird!

PM me if you want some fins. I have a few sets made up.

I forgot to unfold my blades wen i plugged mine in and the bec got super hot and split the shrinkwrap
If I fold mine back the swash is tilted back as well. Just thought I would bring this to your attention.

Nice job Rick, I think you be as anal about wiring as me, maybe worse! And that... is a good thing . On your wiring on the bottom you have no issues running your esc wire that close to your three main wires off motor, in regards to rf being picked up off those wires?? If not rock on dude. Looking good! I was going to maiden mine today but got out there and forgot the darn batts! Oh well still had others to fly,,,,

Have fun flying now that all your tweaking is done!

Finless: Coming from you that is high praise indeed! It was your EEEK originally that drove me to do it nice! I look forward to seeing your build! I'm glad that I set the new bar high! If people are as carefull wiring as I was, I think they will have many less problems and lots more great flight time.

OICU812: That wire originates at the ESC and you will notice that is the only wire near the noisy high current stuff. That wire is protected by the ferrite ring by the receiver. I've never had a glitch yet. I have to agree on the anal part, but now I am happy with the result.

love2fly: Sorry about the BEC, I keep that in mind!

RobRoy: Very nice! Incredible machine isn't it. No toy here!!!

chuckhager: Thanks much!

Actually it only took two evenings. The hard part was the design end figuring out the optimum way to do everything. I was striving to minimize noise and make sure each servo could easily be worked on. The layout really mostly came from the best of all of you guys. Now that I posted pictures, I'm hoping it will be easier for everyone else. I'm glad to help you out whereever you need it.

Shortening the wires is easyif you do it on the connector end. Messing with the guts of servos was too dicey!

Where do you get the covering for the servo wires? That looks very slick. I'm oging to be shortening up my servo wires as well and may as well do the covering at the same time.

Nice looking heli.

Its called Flexo clean cut, although it really didn't "clean cut". I put heat shrink over the end with half on the braid and half on the wires. I used the black 1/8" version.

Got to fly her today. You gotta love this machine. Steady as a rock! Unlike my CP which I crashed in Idle Up and then watched it thump itself to death. Almost got a stick to beat it... LOL. Actually, a little glue and a new pair of blades got the CP back in action but it does make me really appreciate the REX!

Hey RobRoy
Nice job, what did you use for paint? Lemme know how you finished the canopy...carbon fiber stickers?

Robroy...I assume you meant rdlohr

I didn't use any paint. Being new to this I just put the stickers on the canopy. It looks nice, but it looks like everyone elses. Eventially I'll spring for a second canopy and do something creative with it. I've seen some really nice ones on this forum.
Rick
