Hi everybody,
I’m building my first gasser, a Condor.
I got the new kit from Century.
My question is. Has anybody installed the new heavy duty clutch and clutchbell?
I can not get the gear to mesh up because the clutchbell hits the lower bearing block even though there’s still adjustment left. The gears aren’t even close.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure its hitting the lower block, or is it hitting the frames.?..I had to file a little bit on the frames myself, but only slightly...what main gear do you have?

Hi Billme,
Not sure which gear, I’ve looked at the paperwork but can’t find any info. The bearing block is leaving scratch marks on the clutchbell.

Ok, I see whats going on...You should have got a different lower mast block..You have the block for the stock clutch... Call in Monday, and have them send you one, or you can machine it yourself if your in a hurry. Its real easy.. Switching over to the new clutch is going to have growing pains I guess.. Its worth it though

I counted the gears.
I have a 10 pinion and a 88 main.
Are they the correct ones?
If I call century will they know what I'm talking about?
I'm no machinist.
I told my self that a new kit would have growing pains.
I’ll just move on to the tail.

Thanks for all your help.

Alex,

The new Condor comes with 10/88.

You have the one that you are supposed to have, if your kit has the 810mm or 830mm blades. I talked to them last week about upgrading my Predator and the 10 tooth pinion is on my list of upgrade parts. They said I could keep the 90 tooth main or change to the 88 tooth. My Carbon SE came with the new clutch, so I do not have to change it.

I have the 830's.
Any idea what the problem is or did I do something wrong?

Mike, I done the flight testing on this machine.. It needs the 11 tooth, unless you mill out the top frames yourself..I just talk to Paul, and he is going to make the changes from the wrong info, whereever it came from
Century will contact those with kits already sold, when they correct the problem.. Give them time Monday to do it before you call, hehe

Bill,

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that I do not need the 10 tooth pinion when I upgrade.

Your going to need the 11 tooth if you plan to run the Condor setup stock without doing your own machining...

Alex:

I have ordered and paid the Condor on Monday, Century is saying that they have this problem with the pinion and they will not ship any more Helicopters until they fix the problem. When I spoke with them today they mentioned that they do not have a timeframe yet and that I should call them middle of next week.
I was not very happy but I realize that if this was another company they could have shipped it and make you go through the issue. I appreciate that they are honest and profesionals, the only thing that I can do right now is wait until next week and ask for status

Please keep us posted

Regards
Carlos H.

That's what they told me also.
When I bought this kit I knew that this problem might happen with the first batch of a new kit.
As long as they fix it.
