Hey I'm new to electric helis, and this thing is nothing like a good Raptor 50. Oh well is should be cheaper to fix and best of fly in the back yard (a big yard).

This little devil is getting to me. Right out of the box I had radio trouble and had to send it back to Horizon Hobby for repairs. Well I got it back and converted it so I could use my 9CHP.

After some work I felt it was ready to fly, and set out to do so.

In hover I found the tail was loose or drifty, which I figured was the rate gyro since I’m use to the 401 heading hold. Feeling that I was able to handle the loose tail I started in to forward flight. Things were going OK, the tail wasn’t to bad and I could handle. But what was the problem was the pitchy response in FF, I found the bird liked to nose up for no reason. I was able to control it for a while but it seemed to be getting worst. There was a slight breeze, but I didn’t feel it was enough to cause this problem.

Any suggestions to what caused the pitchy problem?

I see that the Bell-Hiller upgrade is now available. Has any tried the upgrade and if so what do you think?

Any suggestions on a good Gyro this bird………preferably a Heading Hold?

If you're flying in wind, best thing I've found is to use 3s lipo's and AEK. The faster headspeed combined with the symms helps quite a bit. And I assume you're using Idle-up, right? The DD tail mod helps keep it in line also. I setup my BCP to use my Optic6 and use programmable mixing. I'm using Collective as Master, with Rudder as Slave. That way, when I punch up collective, it adds a bunch of right rudder as well. Helps compensate for lack of heading hold gyro. I also use Ron Osinki's tip about setting throttle curve in Idle-up to be all 100's.

Brent.
