I have just switched on my pcm 9X with the aerial removed!! Will this have damaged the transmitter?

It still seems to be working!

Damage to transmitter??
Nope. As long as it's for a short time it'll do no damage. I wouldn't turn it on and then go on vacation though. Why are you asking. Has something happened to make you think that you've damaged it? I have all JR equipment that I fly and I've always made a point in keeping the antenna up while the radio is on. Only keeping it collapsed for short periods while range checking it, even with the Century 7 radio.

Blade, don't worry about it too much. As long as it wasnt for an excessive amount of time, you'll be okay. I have left mine on for about an hour before ( without antenna ) with no damage at all.

Here is something amusing 2nd flight of the day I returned to the hover and the tail kicked a couple of times, I thought a bit strange anyway I landed and walked over to my heli switched the RX of switched off then the TX then started to collapse the aerial down when I realized it was not screwed in, it was resting on the stud inside the TX and I pulled it from the TX. This had obviously started to work loose while I was flying, The radio: JR PCM9XII.Fantastic radio but I was lucky. My first JR radio in 28 years flying and I think its great, easy to setup.
Cheers
