had A coupla set backs but still trying! my motivation for quiting is simple I am dating a woman with 4 kids and do not want to be a bad influence on them, plus the 5 yr old is very honest about how she doesnt like me smelling like smoke. plus this relationship is looking like it might be the "one". I want our first kiss to be smoke free. yes the relationship is going that slow. I have never taken the time in a relationship like I have this one. we are both christians and I have gotton back to my roots in the church and feel much better for it!

so if you want to smoke,by all means smoke, but I will not be part of that crowd.

Throw those patches away.. You need to detox, not try to quit freebasing by shooting up. Try plain ol' chewing gum, like wrigley's, instead. It's rough, but if you don't give in, it'll be over real soon. Patches and nicotine gums will only prolong the process (withdrawls and temptations). Like a bandaid: quicker you yank - shorter you suffer.

I quit early 2002 after 15+ years of a pack a day.

I'm going on my 3rd week of no smoking after 15 years. I got the nicotine lozenge but I'm only eating around 2 a day instead of the recommended 9. Doing pretty good so far. My problem is I don't know what people do when they don't smoke!!! I'm used to one after waking, eating, thinking. I get so pissed off when I'm trying to come up with a paint design, I'm used to having that cigarette and thinking about it, now, I can't think without a million different things going through my head. See what I mean! I meant to just type in "Good Luck" and your getting all this!!!

You'll likely go through a little identity crisis too while you adjust if you've been smoking most your life. "If I'm not a smoking anymore, then what am I ?". That goes away soon too though.

Been a quitter since the beginning of the year. It's tough at first and get ready for the fits, and dreams about smoking. It goes in stages. 3 days things ease up a bit then pick back up, 7 days your doing alright but cant sleep, 21 days you think your out of the woods but bamm all the urges come back like one giant stampede. Giving a last woorah trying to get you to smoke. I found always have a pen or pencil handy, keeps your hands busy by rolling it around. Go to Costco and buy the largest amount of gum you can buy. It works I am finally at the stage where I can take it or leave the gum. I don't have any urges to speak of, until surrounded by a group of my old smoking buddies. I should go buy the next size up in pants.. lol you put it on fast but I am working very soon on getting rid of it again. Do not try to quit and stay in shape at the same time.. Way to much stress,

Here it is middle of Feb and my lungs are just now starting to attempt to clear out.. Nothing gross or nasty yet but it has taken them a very long time to start clearing out, I was wondering if they ever would lol.

Keep at it and I know you will make it.. If you stuck with learning to fly a heli quitting smoking is no harder. It just seems like it as you could smoke anywhere you wanted.

Remember you can always loose the weight no big deal..

Good luck I have faith you can make it
