On my old Concept 30, I damaged the aerial wire so I stripped out a mains cable, took one of the strands, soldered it to the aerial cable and went flying.

NOT a problem

Hi,
Try "The Model Shop" at 88 Crossgates Road, Leeds. Bought one from them not 2 weeks ago. Tel No 01132 646117.

I don't see the problem. The aerial is a LENGTH of wire....any wire, even a strip of foil, it's the LENGTH that's the important thing. It bears a direct relationship to the WAVELENGTH of the signal. And , no, it's not that critical, although it's obviously more efficient if it's tuned to the correct wavelength.

THINK...you range-check with your TX aerial down, then extend it to fly. If longer were better, you'd expect there to be a host of "aerial extensions" on the market....but there aren't,cos they wouldn't work and i guess the next "tuned" increment would just be ridiculously long and unnecessary, as current tx/rx range is still effective at "out of sight" distance.
I don't know about the lengths in the US,asthey have a different frequency -range to UK.
Sometime I'll get round to measuring the aerial lengths on my TX and RX. and compare them.

meanwhile , ANY piece of wire, the correct length, will suffice,-dont get ripped -off for "special"wire either strip -out the old one ,back to the RX terminal, or cut the old wire wherever convenient, solder the new one to it, insulate the joint and cut off at the correct TOTAL LENGTH.
