the 50 seems faster, but it is less than half as strong as the 55..... Which is more important? By the way, I will be using a Fubata 401 gyro with it.

So long as there is no binding the HS-50 should be able to drive your tail just fine. The added speed will reduce latency.

I use an HS-50 with my 401 and am satisifed with it. The only downside is that if you do not wrap the servo it can and will "blow up" given extreme inputs or strain - ie crashing.

<edit>
I've read about a few people using the GWS servos and I think their experience is similar to that of those using an HS-50. Can't say I know of anyone using an HS-55.

Was looking at the specs of the Futaba digital servos and they seem to be slightly faster as .06 speed and alot more powerful.... Just expensive though.

Try the HDS877 Micro Digital Servo. They are about the same price as an HS50 and will not fall apart. I use one with my 401 in Digital Mode on my SE. Have been using them for some time now with no problem.

catfight,
I have never tried an HDS877 on 6 volts. They are rated for operation on 4.8 to 6 volts though.

Gyro ron.
Did you see these from GWS.

price $15.75
GWS NARO "FAST HIGH PAWER" w-JR or FUTABA PLUGS.!

SPEED .10 sec.
Torque 24 oz.
TOP BALL BEARING
10 Grams

The wire leads are short for cyclic but good for rudder.
they fit great in the TREX.

The HS-81 is going to be my tail servo on my second backup Trex. Just can't see paying $60 again for the 9650 so I say go for it and get the HS-81.

Wife: "Honey, UPS is here" Me: "Its just a $3 part, honest"
