Does the Hitec Electron reciever need a crystal specifically for it, or could a futaba or some other type be used in it?

Mixing and matching crystals from different manufacturers is risky business.

mixing n matching crystals is a recipe for disaster in general.

however, the hitec and futaba seem to mix well (you'll hear from
people 'i've mixed them for years and it's fine' but you'll never
hear the OK from the manufacturers themselves.

to me, my models are worth the $$ and effort to use the right
crystals.

Was just wondering, none of my local hobby shops have my channel in stock for the Hitec Electron. I will just order one on line and wait. Thanks guys.

Your wallet will probably thank you.

Read through here and you will find many posts about people wanting to take short cuts, use sub standard servos, not glue blade grips, high/low reciever tuning, off brand crystals just to name a few. The fact of the matter is helicopters are very unforgiving of short cuts and for every 1 of those "ive done that for years with no problems" you will find 10 stories by those that wish they have just done it properly to begin with.
