Got my Firewire cable today, plugged it into my video camera and then my PC. Went onto Windows Movie Maker, turned on my camera and pressed play - and guess what....the computer didn't pick up anything and just told me that it hasen't found any device! Pleased help - anything I'm doing wrong. I've turned it on and off, checked the connections etc.
Any advice?

You can go to your camera's website and download the specific driver for your cam and windows version. Install, restart and most likely Movie Maker can now access you vid cam.

Hi Chris. Bit late here with some help. Having established that the camera does hook up to a computer I would suggest that you check the firewire port is enabled in the BIOS and second if the fire wire port is on an extender connector or at the front of you computer case you check the cable is actually plugged into the mobo.

If you know about computers like you know about helis then sorry for grannies and eggs and all that.

If things don't change... they'll stay as they are!

When the computer is first switched on somewhere on the screen it will have something like press Del for setup or F2=Setup. You have to be quickish about pressing the key before the computer actually starts the bootup process.

Once in the BIOS setup you will need to access the different menus until you find the one for the fire wire port. It might be called PCI IEEE 1394a.

You weren't pulling my leg were you?

Why aren't you out flying?

If there is no firewire in the bios then does your computer actually have a firewire port?

What I would like you to do is go into the bios again and note the name of it. It could be award or phoenix and could you note its version and let me know together with the make of the computer please.

My 90 crashed last week after some very nice flying (the gyro sensor came off in a chaos) - just repairing that now. I had one flight with my 50 this morning, but realised how much more fun my 90 was and went home!
Yes yes, my computer has 2 firewire ports - already connected my camera to computer via the firewire....no detection.
I'll try again.
