been flying my xl ccpm for about 6 months and ready to start 3D. but headspeed is to low so someone told me to change the pinion on the motor from 13 tooth to 10 tooth. only problem is the 13 tooth pinion is the only pinion with the correct size hole for the align 420lf motor. all the other pinions that i purchased (and the other pinions that came in the kit) have the wrong size hole (to small). am i ordering the pinions wrong or do i have to change the motor?

the Kv rating is 3200KV, thunder pwr 2100mah 11.1 3 cell 15 c cont, 20c burst. the only other pinion that will fit the shaft is the 11 tooth.

the shaft on that motor is (from what I can find)
3.17mm or roughly 1/8"

the pinions that came with your kit should fit

the 13 and 15 with the kit are both that size...

at least they were in mine

I currently run an 11 tooth on the 420LF because I mostly fly basic aerobatics and light 3D. Head speed is around 2200. It has plenty of power for what I do and the motor stays cool.

A 13 or 15 tooth should work fine for 3D, but remember your throttle/pitch curves, ESC and battery all impact this as well. Make sure that you have at least a 15C pack and you may need to upgrade the ESC to a 35A. The motor will run much hotter also.

Have fun and let us know what happens.
