i want to try flying without the lipo mode setup on my jazz, but cant figure out how to disable it. i tried reprogramming and activating the lipo mode again to see if it would turn it off, but no luck.

Been sometime. I believe you need to reset it to mode 1 then go back and configure for Heli mode (4) then lipo mode will be off.

Do you still have the instructions?. If not I will dig mine out.

yea i will try that, but the instructions dont say how to reset it, other than that the lipo mode doesnt work in mode one.

I pretty sure we have to go back to mode 1. Lets wait and see if we can get some help. You could also goto the RCGROUPS they have a Kontronix support section which will get your answer right away.

Mode 1
Mode 1 resets the entire ESC. Then go to mode 4 to enable heli mode. I do not understand disabling LiPo mode (9) since pretty much all it does is set the cut off voltage to keep you from deep cycling the batteries and damaging them but there's how you do it.

a lot of guys disable the lipo mode bc they say it limits current draw during intense collective movements that draw a lot of current, meaning the lipo will dip below the cutoff voltage for a split second, which apparently doesnt damage the pack at all, but not being able to do so really limits power. besides i time all my flights anyway bc flying to the lipo cutoff kills the battery lifespan anyway so if i am not taking advantage of the feature anyway i might as well see if i get more power.

Program mode 1 then reprogram mode 4
Mode 9 li-po mode gives you the 30 sec shutdown when it detects 3 volts per cell how it knows how many cells you are running is beyond me

The world is round you can run but you will always end up where you started from

i know what the lipo mode does, i am saying that i was told that even in the beginnings of flights it can limit power slightly (not something u would even know its doing until u run without it) so i am gonna give it a try.

ummm... just speculation here but... minimum and maximum voltages for a 3 cell pack would be 9 and 12.6

2 cell would be 6 and 8.4

and so on.... use these constants to determine cell count, assign that to a variable, monitor current voltage levels and divide that by our variable (cell count), and when that number is equal to or less than 3 initiate shutdown routine.

More battery
If i was worried about that, I'd use mmore battery. I'm currently running a Duralite Evo20 (20C) 2100mah pack that will give 42 amps continuously and burst to 63 amps. I don't think I have to worry about voltage drop even in pretty heavy use.
