Do you get more control from the throttle/collective stick if you remove the mechanical clicks from the radio?

The series of clicks that you feel as you move the throttle stick

COOL!! Thanks finless, I have a Futaba 9 CAP

Don't pull your radio apart just for a pic. I'll pull mine apart tonight and let you know how I make out
I wonder if you can do the same thing with the G3 simulator radio?

Take the back door off and remove the battery, remove the rf module and take the screws out and carefully move the back off to the side. Look at your throttle stick there is a metal tab, remove a phillips screw and flip it upside down and put the screw back in. Test the throttle stick drag tension, you may have to remove that tab and bend it to get the feel you like. Put it back together, you can do the exact same procedure to the G3 controller.

I was afraid to do it, because I use the radio for IMAC airplanes...

but once I did it, everything is smoother... airplanes and helis

and it takes 30 seconds, and if you don't like it, it is 30 seconds to switch it back.....

no grinding or hacking needed.....

I bent the metal piece slightly because I like a little tension, but that is personal preference.....

I'm old, bitter, and don't like people.... get over it

I've had a couple of the 3d plank flyers fly my Funtana on my 9CH and it was about 2 minutes later that I was modding the throttle sticks on their radios.

I don't have a futaba but here is how I fixed my optic 6:

Just put a piece of fuel tubing over the ratchet clip. That will give you the resistance and smoothness you need.

finless The only problem with the fuel line trick is it wears out over time and little rubber dust gets all over inside the stick! Especially if your a hard stick banger doing fast piro flips and such

That's a good point
No 3D for me yet, still shaking during forward flight!!

I did the flip method with my dx6 but what tension should I have on the throttle stick? the stick seems to move relatively easy when I try to move the tail, should it be tighter?

I used the tubing trick myself but noticed that Hitec gives you a notchless spring clip with the Optic 6 to replace the normal one. Check your radio box spare parts.

Can this be done with a DX6? I suppose it probably can be, but has anyone done it that can offer some pointers?

mondo,

It will work exactly as the photo above with tubing, or just flipping the metal clip over ( I chose the tubing but starting to get some slop looseness) and bending for the pressure you want (don;t bend in place- remove, rebend, then replace to try). Remove the battery and the six screw to open the back- easy.

Cheers

I fixed this on my Realflight G3 simulator controller by dremeling down the plastic clicks until they were smooth and put it back together. Good to go. Use your imagination. I'm sure you could do several other things to eliminate the clicks in your 9CHA.
