Been out of the hobby for 6 months odd, and even before that I was only just starting to do circuits. Now i'm starting from the beginning and re-learning nose in etc.. My current training gear (the rod and ball style) has seen better days and doesnt support the heli anymore. So I've got a hoop, but would like some pics of your hoops to give me some ideas on how to fix it to my heli. R50 btw. I can hover/land perfectly well and confidently without the gear, but want to put it back on for nosein etc..

I have wooden dowels long enough, and I have the carbon rods etc.. from my old training gear.

Please show me some pics to help me out.

Thanks

Andy

Andy, as I see it there are two ways to learn nose in. The first would be to have the Heli on the ground pointed towards you and start like you did with hovering tail in. For that I agree you want training gear (rotopod, hoop, floats).

The second method is what I've been doing, it is the "sneak up and suddenly you are doing it" method. In flying figure 8s, you get to the point where you see more and more of nose in. So what I've done is fly higher figure 8s and then when it is nose in with some height I attempt a short hover, then fly off on my circuit. I keep doing those. You can then progress to a point where you have the Heli flying towards you at slow speed and as it starts to loose elevation, slowly turn it (i.e. as in landing) - this is sorta where I'm at.

On the SIM I don't have any problem hovering in any direction at any altitude (well I'm real bad at inverted still but right side up I'm fine).

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.

I will be training nose-in from ground up too as I'm proficient hovering nose at 20 feet high but I totally block bringing it down... I can't get over the feeling of lowering collective and get it into ground effect. Starting from the ground up with training sticks should do the trick (and hopefully don't take as long as learning tail-in)

My two cents
