Is there any functional or cosmetic reason why I shouldn't glue the tail rotor connector that the rudder servo plugs into onto the side of the gyro? I would get rid of the problem of where to put the excess wire, assuming I shorten the wires.

Is there a different glue I could use?

Coil it up
I coil mine up in the frame and zip tie it therer...Personal choice obviously...will try the heatshrink trick to clean it it a bit in there as it looks really clean...then the zip tie.

Oh...Shoe goop. Now I get it!

I coil mine now but I'm going for ultra clean here. We'll see how it goes, Thanks!

I agree! I did some soldering internal to some of my servos, and although it went well, my recommendation is going to be NOT to do it that way. I prefer first putting on new contacts on the connector end, or second, carefully soldering to the old contacts on the connector end. In all cases, adequate slack must be left to avoid stress on the wires and to allow easy servo maintainance. I would not recommend that a novice try soldering connections this small at all. One cold solder joint could crash your heli!

Thanks for the heads up!

I coiled both the servo and gyro leads by wrapping tightly around a small rod. (A small phillips screwdriver works great.) I then plugged the connectors together and secured them with a small strip of metal duct tape. (I use this on my 1/4 scale airplanes to secure the aileron connectors and it works great.) I then used a small strip of stickey backed velcro to attach the connector to the side of my 9350 servo which due to the mounting angle is on the bottom when installed and out of sight. This arrangement looks great, is removable and would give in event of an event. I'll try to get a picture tonight if anyone is interested.

One additional comment: I understand that the gyro should be isolated as much as possible, supported only by the furnished foam mounting block. Even the leads should be left with some slack to prevent unwanted vibration from getting to the gyro. I think you may compromise performance if you mount the connector directly to the gyro. I do however see photos where folks are using velcro tie wraps to secure their GY401's. This is definitely not recommended in the instructions but it must be working for them.

Thanks, thats what I was wondering. It would probably be fine, but I will avoid it.
