I have the 6channel Futaba and I have mine setup for idle up and it works good..
Throttle idle up 100 75 50 75 100
pitch idle up -10 -5 0 +5 +10

Now the 100% in idle up throttle is based on what 100% is in normal mode It might very well be 80% or 92% for full throttle

I fly in Idle1 all the time. I start the spoolup in Normal and switch to Idle1 around half collective before lifting off. Make sure Throttle Hold is working so you can shut down the motors in case of an unexpected arrival on earth. I use the same settings as Tom. Wonder where he got them

Couldn't have done it without you Gary, I like the way the little bird handles in idle up 1 and I have gotten used to landing at 1/2 throttle, it's a whole different bird in idle up1.....
Gary, when I switch back to normal from idle up 1 the heli jumps off the ground a little as it is spooling down from the higher rpm. Is this normal or should I try to match the pitch at 50% throttle in both modes....

Ya i think i might do that too. I noticed it today when i tried out the idle up. I think it would be smoother and easier on the head. What do u guys have the throttle cut as?? Like which switch??

I don't use the throttle cut off... I only have throttle hold set to -10% so the motors won't spool up if I hit the throttle by accident. Thanks again too Gary.......

Tom,
Now that you are flying in Idle1 set your Normal pitch curve to the same as the Idle1 to avoid any hopping up or down.

Something else to try now. After flying in Idle1 when landing remain in the Idle1 postion and fly the bird down to about 4 or 5 inches off the ground. At that point when the bird is steady switch the throttle hold on. The headspeed will decay nicely and the bird will settle right down. There will be no power to the tail motor as well which helps if you land a bit tail down or in tall grass. As you can see there really are a lot of advantages to flying with your computer radio!

Gary, I have my throttle curves the same at 1/2 throttle 50%, but if I set the pitch curve the same at 1/2 stick I will be at 0 pitch. I will be adding all my pitch in a very small space at 5/8 stick... Is that what your talking about?
I will still be landing at 1/2 stick like in idle up1 right?
I'll give it a try tonite and see what happens......
Thanks,

Tom,
Zero pitch at half collective is what I use in all modes including throttle hold. That is the way to avoid that hopping up or down. Yes you will have all of your positive pitch from half stick up. Same for negative, all of the pitch from half stick down. You need this when you begin to fly inverted.

Have you done any inverted with the CP Gary? I was wondering how responsive it is? Like to u have to be up pretty high or does it flip over realtively easy. I practice with G3 and those nitros and gassers will flip right over. Anything like that?

I tested mine by rolling it over from a Hover and fed in full negative collective. It started climbing at about the same rate as upright. Staying with the tail proved troublesome for the first few minutes as I am used to heading hold gyros. Mine flips but not at a very fast rate. If you are like me stay high and keep spares

Honey Bee CP2 and Futaba 9C
How do you setup the Idle Up on the Futaba 9C, for use with the Honey Bee CP2? I think I have everything else working OK, except the Idle Up.
