Dave,

I know it's just personal opinion, but I don't think the MDS would even make a good fishing weight!

Take a look at what you can get an OS .46 for. They are on the way out with the popularity of the Hyper 50's, but they are still a good smooth reliable engine...just don't have the power of the 50's. I'm running one in a Falcon turned Schweizer 300 and it's doing really good. Pictures are in my gallery.

I've never used the .48, but tried to use the .38 and couldn't get it to run for more than a few second in a heli. (Concept 30, inverted engine) So, then I put it on a plank and got it to run, sort of, but it self distructed in about 20 flights. No MDS's for me!

My buddies and I have had nothing but trouble with MDS motors. I'd take a used OS over a new MDS anyday.

I agree, I have yet to get any MDS engine to work properly in a helicopter.

If your OS32 bogs then try using less pitch. The B47 uses 600mm blades. The bell 47 uses a 9/1 gear ratio instead of the 9.7 gear ratio of the Hawk and it uses 600mm blades instead of 550 blades of most 30 size helis. So do not expect the OS32 to pull the same pitch on these 600's with that ratio as it can with the 550/ 9.7 ratio.

I would suggest that you change the 14T primary pinion gear it has (CN2224) to the 13T one from the Hawk (HW3045), then maybe even try fitting some 550 blades or set up for maybe 7.5 or 8 degrees of pitch maximum on the 600's.

Also be sure to use a good hi-volume muffler with it, to insure you are getting the best possible power from the OS32.

The 50's are definately good engines (I've had four of them) but for scale flying, take a look at the OS .46....Tower has them for $109. Definately a good engine for a budget scaler.

I am in 100% agreement with steve here one the OS46 for your Bell 47. It is ideal IMHO. I have over 100 flights on mine with the OS46. I have the 50's on my 3D Ravens and Falcons, but for scale the OS46 is my choice.
