Hi,

Just been out running in my new Raptor 90 with OS 90 C-Spec PS. Just have a couple of Questions:

1, It seems that for no apparent reason I was hovering away quite nicely as rich as I could make (lots of smoke and even tail slightly twitching due to being rich), then I landed and the engine went lean. Little smoke!!! I drop the throttle right back opened her back up again and back rich again. Any ideas?

2, It is practically four stroking on idle. Is this ok?

3, Is there anything different about runinng these motors in? I've not used a pumped motor before.

Your midrange may be on the lean side go down on the low end and up on the midrange.

There is a lean spot in the mid-range of these carbs. Nothing you can do with it stock unless you do the cat-eye mod or add a third needle. Adding the third needle is the best bet for curing it. Cat-eye takes filing and patience. No difference in breaking in these motors compared to one without a pump.

I am not sure about the idle, but I would get it so that it is not "4 stroking" and more where you plan to run it.

That is the only thing needed to make it third needle. Very easy.

The needle is a fuel return volume metering needle. So it works opposite of a regular needle. It has an effect of richening the mid and low end only, by not allowing fuel to leave the carb when it should.
