I just pickup up a TP 4s-2100 and this is the first pack that I've had with a balance tab. I grabbed a TP-205 balancer to go along with it. I've only got four flights on the pack so far and I've tried to take it really easy on the pack for these flights, so that I can properly condition the pack. I balanced the pack on it's first charge. The second charge I did not use the balancer. After that flight I checked the pack balance and it was unbalanced to the second condition listed in the instructions, imbalance 0.03 to 0.2 volts. I charged and balanced the pack per the instructions and called TP about this. They stated that this was no big deal. I flew out another charge and checked the balance. Again, it was out of balance. Both times it was the #4 cell. I have not checked the individual cell voltages. Is this normal?

Thanks.

I have a three cell and I put it on the balancer every time I charge it. It's never been in any condition of out-of-balance. But that's just my one battery. I don't make any special effort to check the battery after every flight, just while charging.

I have a prolite 4s 2100 and run that packs down to 15volts and I put back around 1300mah back into the pack. I find that if I discharge the pack much more than 15v that I get balancing issues. I also noticed that a battery can be unbalanced during a charge and then when its done the pack is in balance even without the balacer. When my packs were new I would only charge one pack at a time( I have only 1 balancer)the batteries would be out of balance during the charge and I they wouldnt balance right even at the end of the charge. Now I can charge a pack without the balancer and after the charge is done a its always in balance. The key to keeping them in balance is not discharging them too much. Its kind of a shame though to only use about 60% of the packs capicity. I get 10 minutes though which is pretty good I guess

ive got 5 of the 3cell evo 20's 1800mah batteries , all are new within the last month and they go out of balance every time i use them according to the balancer
as far as i know this is normal , must be if all 5 packs do this , so long as you balance them every charge this is no issue
in fact they was all out of balance from the shop !!!
doesnt effect my flight times and they rebalance perfect
i dont understand why poeple charge without balancing , takes no effort what so ever and is best for batteries
hope this helps you out m8

If you need to get high , go and fly !

I dont understand why if anyone wouldnt use a balancer while charging if they had it. However, they cost like $50 (TP). I have two chargers, one balancer, and I charge at the same time so I put the balancer on one of the batteries for one charge and then switch for the next charge. I always check the balance though of both packs after charging and they are always fine these days. You definately need atleast one balancer though.

keyz, I too just bought a 3 cell Evo 20 1800 and I had one cell that had to play "catch up" the entire time of the very first charge. It did finally get charged but it was constantly discharging the other two cells to let the third cell catch up. I was wondering if I had a defective battery but it has been fine since then but it does seem to spend a little more time balancing during a charge than the thunder power batts I have. I do like that evo 20, it hardly gets warm during a flight.
