Hi all, last September I purchased my first home. A 1960s fixer upper. Also in September, I had a crash while night flying that did some good damage on my Rappy 50 (blades, frame, bearings, boom, belt, all shafts, etc, etc, etc). Unfortunately, the combination of a million home projects and crappy Utah winter weather pushed the repair project (which would only be one free day in the perfect world) back.

I had got to the point where I thought my flying skills would be hurt and I would be starting at hovering again I also was getting to that point where I wondered on setup as well. Not flying for so long can do crazy things with your noggin 5 months later...

Well, got to fly her last weekend and all I can say is WOW!!!! First off, it seems every time we rebuild or setup a machine it gets better (I am sure it is the same with everyone else, just excited for such a good machine!!). The machine tracked perfect and flew perfect on the first startup. Zero vibrations, no setup changes needed - just like glass. I love looking at that Raptor fuel tank and seeing the fuel sit there, no shake, no ripples, just a smooth surface

Well, with the machine being so nice to me and running that way I took her up and started to fly some circuits and everything came back almost instantly, I am glad I didnt have to relearn some things I did have the shakes again though, but those are fun anyways - and whoever says Raptors pitch up in flight just need to check their paddles and CG out, because they fly like they are on rails.

Anyways, it was an awesome day of flying and my Rappy 50 proved to me, yet again, why I still own it and have so much fun with it. It is a solid performer and that is why it still holds such a large part of the market share. (dont turn this into a flame war, I am not knocking any other heli).

Cant wait for next weekend to do it again

Go Fly, Have Fun!!

Hey.
Awsome, i know EXACTLY what you mean
I came back after about 4 months accept i came out from a string of inverted crashes...
First month was awsome just lazy hovering/circuts and enjoying the beauty of the machine...

Now i'm stuck in a rutt lol.
Especially after my 401 decided my R30v2 had to die the other day
I have a 50 going this time tho...
Such beautiful machines

Have to love this hobby (obsession lol)

Great to hear your back!!! I took two weeks off around xmas and it felt like forever, don't even want to know what 5 months feels like.

You guys still flying at the field near the dump, I'll be up first week in March and I'll bring my heli even if I have to strap it to the roof!

Thanks guys!

We are actually back at our old field, the construction did not really take much room away It is down from Utah Valley State College. For a map, check out the site at: http://www.utahheli.com and there is a Field Maps link. We are at the USS field now. Come down and fly when you are here. We would be happy to have ya down here again. We will be your way in April

Hi John,

Hell yah. This is the time to fly down here! Another couple months and I'll be back to having to fly at 6:00 am to avoid the heat! But right now is perfect. Be good to see you guys again.

I already asked Jim this but anyone coming down for Vegas this year? We're going down, just wondering if any of the "Utah Valley" crew is coming down.
