WOW! is it open season for trolls? I think the point was made in the last thread, if he don't get it, he probably never will. Let it go.

Might there be a method to confirm that the information written down on these pages actually come from someone with bonafide heli wisdom? Someone once tried to set up an "Ask the Experts" forum.

Yes I have met him,
Nice guy!
I bought a 1005 Gasser from him about 2 years ago or so.
He was flying a MA nitro that day. did not see him fly to much but he was flying very well from what I saw.

You should never confuse one's Runryder status with their hobby knowledge and capabilities. I'm living proof of that. I post often here, most are questions, some are answers, the answers are things that I either know, or opinions I've made from my limited experience. I've been flying R/C heli's for about 16 months now, not sure that quantifies me as a key veteran in the hobby, but I am a key veteran in stature on RR. As far as I can tell, the only thing JB_turner is guilty of, is post's that contain no benifit (troll posts) and that point has been well made in the other thread. I think an "Ask the Expert" forum would be great, but how do we recognize and expert. Just look at RR member foo, who is a elite veteran, and from him, you can tell you can't go by the RR status. So who is to say? as far as I can tell, it's up the each of us to choose who we consider the experts. One of mine is Al Magaloff, although harsh on his coments at times, I've come to learn his knowledge is amongst the best I've seen. But everyone must really choose this on their own.

Experts
It's hard for a newcomer to know whether one is capable and trustworthy or not. It takes at least some degree of knowledge and experience to be able to identify someone with knowledge and experience. I'm not sure the best way to accomplish the task, but even a vote of regular RR members for who they thought was most capable might be a start. Something similar to this was done in a previous post where folks were asked who they thought was most helpful, but a formal vote with some permanent reference added to the persons ID might be helpful. Just a thought. I'm open to suggestions here. steve.

Point well taken....this is one of those situations where I know there is a problem, but I don't have an easy fix.

I have flown with him once. He isnt that bad of a pilot either. But boy is he cocky. He will help you out if you ask though. He didnt do much flying when he came out though. Just a couple of flights.
Just so you all know he does still fly..

Steve, you really should back off on this whole JB thing.

In case you forgot (or didn't realize), personal attacks against members can get you booted. While some people take offense to JB's personal goal of reminding newbies that there is a useful search function, that does not make it open season on him as an individual.

Check the rules again.

I started this thread with the twin objects of 1)Trying to derail some of the mindless replies that gum up the new topic function on this forum and 2)Devising some scheme of helping newcomers identify the respondents who are truly knowledgeable from those who aren't. You're correct that some of this came at JB's expense and for that I apologise. I've deleted the posts which might be considered offensive and will close this thread. steve.

A member's post history can be the most useful tool for determining how much to respect their opinion. It's almost MORE useful than the search function.

As for troll issues, I usually just use the Attn:RR link if someone pisses me off enough and the problem goes away. Ignore works pretty well too.
