The thing I most like with the R50 is how fast they build and repair, how easy it is to get parts, how cheap parts are,and I think it flys pretty good with minimal upgrades.
Exactly how I feel. I've had a few X-Cells, and every model of Raptor, Both Sceadu and Sceadu Evo, and now a Freya X-Spec. I loved the X-Cells, but the amount of time needed to build/setup/repair makes them ridiculous to own, even not paying attention to the costs. I've always found myself being ultra careful with the X-Cells just due to the time. The plastic fantastics are awesome when it comes to the amount of effort you have to put in to get good performance. Now, I may prefer the Hirobos, but Raptors are still excellent machines that fly well, I just don't think they are as nice as the Hirobos.

I looked at the Avant, and it is an amazing machine, I'd say right up there with the Stratus, but I decided not to buy one, just due to the costs, and it looks like the repair/setup time is up there (I may just have that feeling of all stacked frame machines). The Freya flies beautifully, repairs fairly quickly, and apart from the ridiculous boom and mainshaft cost, is cheap to own. That is why I prefer the Freya.

And where did you get this bit of information? Was there a survey taken on how many people own each brand of heli? there is probably way more xcells than raptors because they have been out much, much, longer. I own 2 xcells and 0 raptors.
Using you as example doesn't mean anything, you are just one individual in a population. Hello statistic? Just look at the Thunder Tiger forum which has 71% more post more than the Hirobo, that means something.

Yeah, people have more problems with their Raptors, and thus need more help than the Hirobo guys!

That's probably true, once you know what you're doing, you move on from the toys to the real helis.

So Alan is still playing toy heli? Isn't it ironic his "toy heli" outperform your "real heli"?

Well, I think he likes being able to walk into any Toys R Us to pick up parts. That IS a big advantage.

(I must credit DOUGLAS with the Toys R Us line, he said it a month ago or so, and I laughed my ass off.)

I think when considering a heli, you shouldnt care what Alan, Curtis, etc, are flying. Those guy's skills are leaps and bounds above the next few guys below them, and could fly a soda can better than all of us could fly the finest helis, so thats not really a fair comparison of which one is best because one of those guys is flying it.

Hmmmm! They do make most of the sales of the product they promote with the combination of their skill and a good product they represent.
It's the personal taste of the "know it all" that blows things out of proprtion.

Raffy, my point is those guys can fly anything and win, so what they are flying may not be the best out there, but the best sponsorship they could get. Yes their name helps sell helis, but I am pretty sure if you and I bought a raptor 90se, we wouldnt turn into Alan S. overnight.

Raptor 90 SE $869
Xcell fury extreme $965
Hirobo Eagle $950

repair parts are very equal in price between the 3.
Alan Szabo No 3D wins Raptor
Jason Krouse 3D Masters FURY
Curtis 3D Masters and Nationals and WC wins JR
Duncan Osborn 3D Masters FURY
Cliff Hyatt WC and Nationals XCELL

I'm not saying Alan is not a great flyer. With all so called Raptors that are out there, you would think they would have won something by now.

Why don't you just list one thing that your "real heli" can do and the Raptor "toy heli" can't do?

No it doesnt, all more posts means is that there are more posts.

Just because lots of people (or people posting lots) post about something doesnt mean lots of people have it, there are pleanty of people on RR that dont even have one heli.

Post counts mean nothing.

Douglas, not sure where you got the Hirobo pricing from, but the Evo 90 goes for about $620 and the X-Spec sells around $840.

In 2005, Thunger Tiger total revenue is 40,758,581.34 USD. Their Heli business is accounted for 8.53% (Does not inclue parts) You mutiply both number and you get 3,476,706.99 USD. It doesn't take a genious to see how much they are selling.

RICKS. I'm comparing the Equivelant of the Hirobo and Xcell to a Raptor 90 SE.
The EVO 90 compares more to a std rator 90. Repair parts are pretty equal for the Raptor 90 std and EVO 90. The 90SE parts are more in line with the FURY and Eagle and Vigor.
As for the 50 repair parts the raptor and evo are about the same if anybody even bothered to compare them like i did. And build time are about the same also. These things keep getting thrown around with anybody even checking prices. people keep saying parts aand repair time are cheaper and faster for the raptor when this is not true at all. DOUG
