I just flew my stratus for the second time it is definatly a difference between this heli and my old SE, I have a lot to get used to. it is way more responsive. the manuvers I did with the SE that I had to "wall the sticks" before, the stratus will do at half stick.

its Good if your used to it but harsh if your not.
guess I got to burn more fuel and get used to it.

I like the way my flew also when I converted one of my Tempest 3D to Stratus. It flew about the same but felt like more power due to reduction in overall wt.. Can't wait to convert my other Tempest also and finnish the other Stratus kit but this time instead of YS I'll try the OS 91.Pinoy

Thanks, header tank holder was actually home made from some extra carbon square tube that I used to build my combat planes before. paint job was actually a $70 paint job from a local airbrush shop here in town.

I think I figured it out my Se was teaching me bad habits that I got used to. I am over correcting on the stratus, when I can just let it fly. Its getting cooler everyday I fly it.

modifyit15,

What kind of engine were/are you running in the SE? I have a similar chopper, the Pro Graphite 60, which has a slightly different linkage setup and frame design (see my gallery)...I find that it flies great! I was even thinking, a couple of years from now, of putting a 90 in it...what kind of "problems" are you having? Like what maneuvers in particular do you notice that you're overcorrecting? Maybe, if my chopper is like your SE, I can learn now to not get those habits!

With the white canopy it kinda looks like a killer whale (orca whale)

I run the os c-spec no pump.
in my basic turns I was balanceing the heli to keep it level and straight while coming out of a hard turn; tictocs same issues, I had to fight to keep it straight. with the SE if I did a tictoc with out corrections, it turned out to be a funnel tic toc. Now that I think about it I guess the stratus has less weight below the CG, so there is less balanceing during manuvers.
the last thing is the loops and rolls. If I pull on the sticks like I did on my SE my stratus will flip 1.5 times, in the same time it would take the SE to flip half(upside down).

I have been thinking of a paint scheme for a while now 'killer whale' sounds like a good one

I haven't noticed that I pull the sticks too hard during loops, but I haven't started elevator tictocs yet...aileron ones seem to be fine.

I dont pull hard ither but the stratus takes less of a pull. aileron tics are the same, but have less of a weighty feel, e.g.( I can use less collective duruing the ail. tic toc.

if you get a stratus you will see what I'm saying.

its not somthing that you need to change about your flying, while flying your XCell Pro Graphite 60, its just things that are diferent between the two helis.

Yah I guess it's just something you have to get used to if you fly more than one heli. (I experienced this big time, when I went from Hawk Sport 30 to a MA 60...I still fly both but there is a big difference )

well I don't know much about the stratus but there was a big differance when I went from the SE to the Tempest. I decided on the Tempest as I dont like a forward facing motor

Speaking of the Stratus/Tempest, what is the part # for the start hex adapter (that goes on the end of the clutch shaft)? I need a new one for my 60, but it is out of stock everywhere (4686-3)

Thanks,
